Salou in October

Hi,
I am thinking of taking my 2 children aged 15 and 10 to Salou in October half term - 23 - 30th. I've seen some good prices on low costs beds.com. A few questions:-
1. Has anyone travelled with low cost beds and was it ok?
2. Has anyone experience of Salou in October - will it be warm and is the resort still fully open?
3. Any recommendations for hotels/activities.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi i went to Salou with my friends last year around mid-september.
It wasnt that hot and was abit cloudy and rainy a couple of days, but it was still nice enough.
When we was their we went on a day trip to Barcelona which was a great day out with some amazing sights. We visited Nou camp, the olympic stadium, Sagrada Familia church etc. We also went out on a catamarah for the day- went snorkeling etc and visited the waterpark on another day and that was a really good day out, its one of the best waterparks in Spain i think.0 -
Thats weird because I went last Mid September and it was roasting! Some days were too hot for us to leave the hotel grounds because the heat took it out of us.
I normally stay at club dorada palace which is in a fab location as you have the beach 10 mins in one direction and the theme park 10 mins in the other direction.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Think (but check their website) that Port Aventura theme park is shut then. Many pools may be as well so check the hotels. It is Northern Spain so weather will probs be cooling off again check for climate for October. Just been in June. Decent enough, lots of shops etc typical touristy Spain really. If you go and want to do Barcelona try `touchdown tours` as they will give you 7 SEATER FOR THE DAY WITH DRIVER/GUIDE at your disposal. Will take you wherever in Barcelona at your disposal all day for 170 Euros! They are English as well. Will post contact details if interested.0

we have been in oct and the weather is fine, we have just booked for the 4th oct this year everything is open as the tour operators all fly in untill the end of oct anyway.
PortAventura Park is open from 23/03/2007 until 06/01/2008. Starting November, only open on weekends and bank holidays0 -
half term is the last real week of the season, so most things are open but weather can be very variable. bonus is there are so many things to do in the area0

we went to salou early october last year, really enjoyed it. only 11 euros return coach transfer from airport im sure that was for two people. also cheap rail travel to barcelona and tarragona is worth a visit too beaches are some of the best in spain.the only downside you might find is everything was starting to wind down, maybe more so at the end of october.;)0

Hi -is that you on 'trip advisor' with your review? I'm guessing it is as the name is 'wanty'. Great review - made me want to go tomorrow (especially as I don't have to worry about highchairs !!) It sounds a great place - just what we are looking for. Do you have to book through a travel company and is is far from Barcelona airport???
We're going to Spain mid september this year and I can't wait - I've had the holiday blues since coming home from Portugal in June...:rotfl: :rotfl:
Quite keen moneysaver......0 -
its about 90 mins on train from barcelona. your best traveling to reus airport, roughly 6 kilometres away. you can fly with ryanair to reus 250.000 free flights from midnight0

We went for October half term last year, and it was nice and warm, but not hot. the pool was too cold for us to swim in, though as it wasn't heated. One day was wet and stormy, but otherwise fine, and just a sweatshirt needed for later in the evening. While we were there a couple of the bigger hotels closed for the season, but most of the bars, shops and restaurants seemed to be open. Port Aventura were having a "halloween extravaganza" which seemed weird in the sunshine, but the temperature was great for doing the theme park...not too hot or too busy.
We stayed in the Ventura Park apartments : they were a good size and well equipped, but lacked a bar or any communal facilities, so it felt like we were staying in a residential area rather than a holiday resort - a bit sombre, I felt.0
