Morning all,
Dumpling - hope your DH's op goes ok.
DH and DS2 have gone fishing today so I have a day of peace and pottering all on my own. Lovely.
Made roast chicken dinner last night and deliberately overestimated so that we can have bubble and squeak either tonight or tomorrow. I am looking forward to having coronation chicken sandwiches for lunch too
Washing machine is on and it is dry here but overcast, I am hoping for some sunny spells later.
Happy Friday and have a good weekend.0 -
Morning all,
dumpling good luck and positive vibes for your dh today x
redruby how strange, did they know about the house and the history before they bought? Hope they can settle
hester the dress is beautiful.
It's my sons 27th birthday today. It's difficult with him being in Australia. He has his present and card, but hoping to speak to him at sometime today. I miss him so much sometimes, can't wait for November.
After a quick breakfast I have some food shopping to do, will be using my £5 voucher for Aldi.
We also have the funeral on Tuesday for the old lady who was a 104 who died so I need some black trousers as mine are too big.
Then tonight we are at our best friends, she is doing SW As well so has promised a SW menu. I will take my Cinzano and lemonade and just have a couple rather than drinking wine which I've given up.
Otherwise we are hoping to try and tidy up the trees at the front of the house and jet wash the drive and dh is finally going to put the door on the bathroom.
Have a Good Friday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes, they are really appreciated.Dumpling good luck to your DH hope all goes well, do you have a recipe for your Spanish chicken ? sounds lush !
Hi redruby, it's a Hairy Dieters recipe that I adapted slightly. It's a very simple one tray recipe. You need a bag of small potatoes, 6 tomatoes quartered, 2 onions cut into wedges, put into a roasting tray and roast for 20 mins at 200 C then add 100g chorizo sliced thinly, 3 chicken breasts cut into 3, 2 spoonfuls of minced garlic but obviously you could use cloves if you want, I am lazy!, 1 tsp paprika, 1tsp oregano, and salt and pepper to taste, stir it all around and cook for another 20 mins, finally chop up a couple of peppers into slices and put them on the top of the rest of the ingredients and roast for another 20 mins until they are soft and have begun to char. I served it with green beans and as I said everyone loved it. For those following WW points, there were only 9pp per portion and it comfortably served 4.0 -
Morning all,
The start of a new month almost upon us... Where did the last one go? I swear months go quicker as you get older. Anyway, this time of the month I always rejoice as there's some money in my bank account. Pity its earmarked for bills but there you go!
I didn't sleep very well last night. Firstly hubby woke me up and then not long after Millie dog needed to go out... not usually a problem but she took great offense to the big ginger moggy that was roaming our garden. Took me ages to get her in and my neighbours must have loved me at 4am. In the end I just scooped her up (she's small enough to do that) and carried her in the house still barking like a loon.
The dogs diet isn't doing too well. Well Lucy dog has to be fed twice a day because of the painkillers she is taking at bed time. Although ive been giving her half rations during the day it seems that Millie dog has found out she is being short changed in the food department. She had food in usual quantity yesterday afternoon and hung around Lucy dog in the evening.... So she had extra. I carried her upstairs when hubby gave Lucy her medication but Millie had sussed what was going on. Dogs, they aren't stupid are they?
'Youngest' is in his pit. He's out with the lads this afternoon skating. Hubby is doing a late one tonight.
Dumpling, thinking of your OH. I hope all goes well with his op. My Mom had a hernia op a few years back. All done very successfully and had no problems afterwards. Hubby's best friend had one a couple of years ago. His went well too.
Redruby, I'm not sure I believe in ghosts as such either though I do remember seeing my Dad looking through the living room window whilst walking down the path to Mom and Dads (my) house a couple of days after he'd died. I saw him again several times before his funeral. I like to think he came back to check I was looking after Mom and my brother (who was only 15 at the time). I like to think that he was happy that they were both being looked after and his spirit was free to go. I never saw him again after his funeral.
I think it all stems on what you believe in. The bible says that if you die, you go to heaven or hell and there are no ghosts wandering about the earth. Anyway, I'm getting a bit deep here and its too early in the morning for me to think of scriptures to back what I say up..... not that it matters anyway.
Usual chores today, the ceremonial vacuum throughout. Kitchen floor blah, blah, blah.
Onwards and forwards (and I hate the vacuum cleaner with a passion),
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Best wishes and successful op vibes for Mr Dumpling.
JackieO healing vibes for little Lexi.
Hilstep good start with the tablets, mate.
:rotfl:I have a notice in the kitchen: "Dogs welcome; children must be kept on a lead at all times".Islandmaid wrote: »LAMEWOLF - - hope the workmen are a bit more considerate today - I saw a great doormat the other day it read 'Dogs welcome - people tolerated' if they had one for cats I would have been tempted
Redruby How's Little Dog doing?:o
Re spirits, I think places pick up vibes from what has happened there; I used to have a terrible time going in our spare room, there was just a really weird, uncomfortable feel to it, til I did some ritual stuff to dispel it; I have a medallion of Kwan Yin in there now, and it now seems ok; I still don't think I could ever sleep in there though. It's my firm belief that the previous occupant's wife died in that room. We know for a fact that she died in the bungalow, and I don't get that feeling in any other room.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Its strange, apart from that initial couple of 'visits' after my Dad had died ive never experienced anything else in my house.Re spirits, I think places pick up vibes from what has happened there; I used to have a terrible time going in our spare room, there was just a really weird, uncomfortable feel to it, til I did some ritual stuff to dispel it; I have a medallion of Kwan Yin in there now, and it now seems ok; I still don't think I could ever sleep in there though. I know my Dads Mother died in my living room. My Uncle died in one of our bedrooms (I think its in the room I'm in now) but ive never 'felt' anything.
My Mom did say that she got spooked when my Nan died. I was 2 and at the time she died I called up to her up the stairs. She was lying dead on a bed in the living room.
Maybe I don't feel these things, maybe I don't believe in these things. I wouldn't feel spooked walking through a graveyard at midnight either (apart from being worried about not being able to see where I was going that is). Graveyards are peaceful places, humbling places..... but now I'm babbling. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Im a great believer in ghosts having had quite a few encounters, particularly late night at Homebirths - usually the mother to be's mother or grandmother.
We nearly bought a house that was just perfect for us but there was just a feeling and I pulled out - hubby was furious. We found out later that a chap had killed himself in it previously.
Things are plodding on here - the move went well and we are currently sorting the bungalow. Mum is still here and now on AD's and CPN involved - so hopefully some progress. Makes me sad as she has been talking a lot about her life and it was not so happy especially when she lost her mum:(
Dad still in respite - it is his 80th birthday tomorrow so have cake to share and have washed mum's hair ready to take her over - I insisted and she did not dissolve into tears so must be making a little progress.
Hugs to Hilly and Dumpling xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
