    Voila! :) Hope it works!

A little tip, be polite and friendly. I expressed a desire to gain a larger mortgage to assist my growing family and the fact that the debt in question was due to fraud. Best of luck!
  • Dear Mr James Cornell

Please can I ask for your help with a default that was put on my credit files due to fraud. The first I found out about it was when trying to obtain a loan due to a growing family. We have 2 children and I am 6 months pregnant.

I have a perfect credit file apart from this entry for £988 which I have no knowledge of and have been trying to find out about. I have requested some proof of this alleged debt since May, but still have not received anything.

I would be very grateful if you could please have someone either send me some proof so I can try to get to the bottom of this fraudulent claim in my name. Or could you please have someone remove it from my file.

I would greatly appreciate your help with this, thank you very much in advance.

ive been fighting lowell since febuary for 3 defaults they placed on my credit files, ive asked for proof of default notices, copies of the signed contracts by me, proof of bills sent from original creditors and ive just now asked them for notice of assignments from the orignial creditors, ive been speaking to the customer relations manager who told me he had been given copies of everything ive asked for but when ive asked for them to be sent to me so i can see them he just tried to fob me off with some bulls**t excuses! i would love to know how others have got lowell to remove defaults as im finding it impossible at the moment! experian have contacted them multiple times but each time they reply with that the info is correct and not to remove the defaults!

    any advise guys?

That is a long time. You should have taken them to the ombudsman already.

    Let us know what happens.

It does seem Lowell are experts at buying debts off people therefor taking responsibility for it, but then trying to say the resposibility is from our client. I say no! you recorded the default YOU are responsible for either proving it, or you have to remove it.

I've had problems myself in regard to Lowell and the issue of defaults - the Ombudsman pretty much fobbed me off in this regard, so I'd be intrigued to see what the FOS actually says in regard to this.

Further to the above, if it does go to the FOS, it may be worth recording each default as a a separate complaint - it may end up costing Lowell more that way.
  • Great news :)

Whilst O2 indicated to us that this debt was valid and payable, I have taken the decision to close your account. This will take place once it has been returned from Sabre International Limited, which has been dealing with the account on our behalf.

Your credit file will be updated accordingly. Please allow up to 50 days for the Credit Reference Agencies to reflect this change.

    Do not give up!
  • Sorry to bump but I've just received a default notification from this same company. Can someone please advise me on the steps I need to take to challenge this?

    Hi all,

This weekend i checked my experian credit report after being declined a balance transfer credit card, i already checked my equifax report which showed i had an excellent rating so was confused as to why it was rejected. Anyway, when checking Experian, there was a £205 default from Lowell. I have absolutely no idea what it is for.

After reading a few posts on this site, i thought i would add my story to this thread to plot the progress (if any). First thing i did was have Experian follow up with them, Lowell came back to say that the "Default is reporting correctly as satisfied."

I'm still none the wiser...So yesterday sent an email their complaints address (complaintsresolution@lowellgroup.co.uk ) I have been polite and asked for information of the original lender so i can follow up with them if required.

Not sure how long i need to wait on a response, i saw on another thread that they have 6 weeks before we can go to the ombudsman.

    Anyway, all advice welcomed!
