In case you're wondering ... that website is not allowed to be linked here*, so it is always obfuscated by the forum software. ;)

    * I'm not sure why. It may have been that the owner spammed these boards about it.

That's the Peterborough postcode, but the IKEA Tower phone number in north London. So still no confirmation as to which office she physically uses!

I've actually decided to just send it to their CS dept & the manager of my local store. I have slightly different approach happening at the moment, fingers crossed between that & my letters something will happen.
  • Thought it only fair to IKEA to say things seem to be sorted. I wrote my letter and had a response. Seems the person who said he'd fixed the sofa also said in his report it was a manufacturing fault. IKEA have agreed to exchange the faulty sofa for a completely different model (its a bit cheaper so I will also get a refund). This is taking place on Friday afternoon.

On top of me writing I had seen a national newspaper doing a report on poor IKEA after sales. So I emailed them. Apparently they contacted IKEA about it, after my discussions with IKEA - or so the chap from the IKEA media centre intimated. He apologised and has sent me a gift card loaded with a fairly sizeable monetary value as a final apology.

So providing the swap goes well on Friday and the refund goes through... all well that ends well. I have updated the newspaper too - not sure if they will mention it in print or not...
  • Hi Happy Kayaker,
Did Ikea follow through with their promise?
I have got a faulty sofabed (daybed) that I bought second hand but cannot find the receipt - without it - am I stuck with the bed or am I within my rights to request for an unfaulty bed?

    You bought the bed secondhand?

The only rights you have are with whoever sold the thing to you.
If that wasn't Ikea, then Ikea are not responsible.

However, there is no harm in asking Ikea for help.
  • Thank you wealdroam - I will give it a go!
  • Having the worst experience with IKEA (I have been living with sofa pieces in my living room for 3 weeks and IKEA keep postponing the delivery date of a piece THEY had sent incorrectly) and would love to email Gillian - did you ever receive a response?
