Woo hoo 2 - 2.5lb lost at SW. It's a start!
Boo - one of our cats needs dental treatment, poor thing.1 -
£10 from egg sales paid into MOS plus another £15 of loose change to go in tomorrow.
Had two lots of news today which have put life into perspective, I don't want to be beholden to this mortgage and working until I'm 67, I'm determined to get rid as soon as we can.
5 items listed on ebay over last 2 days, am on a mission to declutter and raise some funds.1 -
December 2014
Mortgage £346,545.00
Mortgage free date 2044
LTV 86.64%
2nd August 2016
Mortgage £330,696.06
Total paid off capital in last month: £907.06
Total paid off capital £15,898.94

LTV: 82.67%
Amount to Mortgage Neutral - £319,786.821 -
So better month in terms of saving and amount to mortgage neutral has decreased by over £2k which is great.
Decluttering is going slowly but every thing out of the house (and preferably being sold) helps.
Trying to set up a meeting with my pensions team so I can transfer some money in from previous pensions - this scheme is much better than my previous one even though they are both public sector.1 -
Good month for bringing in extra money, am at £461 / £1,800 after fees. This include £100 for something I sold on Ebay which the buyer paid by Paypal so always a chance they will do a charge back and I will lose the money but was so glad to get shot it was worth the risk!
Very spendy month as:- car in for major service and cam belt change
- then needed new discs and pads at back (not the front as well like they tried to tell me )
- OH did his annual clothes buying
- we bought new curtains and poles for the hallway (3 windows) - so nice to have something matching!
Got a few bits to return for refund - tiebacks for curtains as don't like them and fixing kit for brakes which wasn't used.
The downside of the curtains is we have realised the render is all coming away from the wall in the hallway where the damp is getting in from the roof. We had hoped to get a few things done first and do the roof in a couple of years (flooring downstairs, wood burner etc) but now the roof is a priority.
As everything in this house is so badly done, we are opting for a re-roof and changing from concrete tiles to slate (will look so much nicer) which will also come with a guarantee.
The "patch up" might not fix everything as every time we look at this house we find something else wrong! Even just the "patch up" job will cost £11K so although it is a huge amount of money, we're going to bite the bullet and get it done properly and once and for all.
So target is to save £40K, we are currently at £12K. This will cover re-roof, new guttering and replacing all the wood cladding this is rotting.
No OPs for the foreseeable future and no re-mortgage as the ERC next year will be £9.5K so that's out for now.
Looking at where we can cut costs from our budget whilst still having a life!
On the good news side, we will be in the £320s at the end of this week (for 2 days :rotfl:)1 -
Ugh to cam belt change. Expensive but vital.1
-
Not as bad as I though SHS, was £209 including parts with the main dealer - had expected it to be about £400.
Was almost a year overdue though, I thought it was due at 7 years, turned out it was due at 6 - oops!
Spent the last 2 weeks after I booked it in expected it to go twang just to spite me, was very relieved to make it to service day without incident!1 -
That sounds a bargain. It's a second mortgage job on my car.1
-
Ugh to the second mortgage!
It has been agreed - we will use the stooze money to pay for the roof and then pay it back ASAP but within the 24 months it is still interest free for. Need to get a couple more quotes then get it booked.
Hate going into debt but the longer we leave it the worse the damage will be and we really can't do much else until the roof is done (can't afford to do much else until the roof is paid off either)
So a year of austerity begins.
Except we might be going to New York for a long weekend in December (it's in the budget (now it is anyway))
OH's flights will be paid for (and hopefully parking) but we need to pay for my flight and hotel accommodation. Looking into cheapest options for everything and cash back. It's a couple of weeks before OH's 40th so will be his birthday treat :T
More ebay sales, random what people will buy and what they will pay for it  Sold three things for more than I paid for them :T
Right, time to make lunch for tomorrow.1 -
