Going to set a mini challenge of making £1,800 additional money over the next year from 1st July. Currently getting about £100 from TCB for OH's hotels but this is not guaranteed if the company gets a corporate rate so will need some work to achieve this. Money will come from cashback and selling stuff.

Currently at £556 / £1,800 but £115 of that was selling something we bought for a little bit more so not sure if I should count that!

Aiming to list one thing a day on eb@y / FB. It's mostly low value stuff at the moment but it all helps.

Thanks Chumpy, it was such a milestone to hit the £320s. Currently back in the £330s temporarily though

Grocery spends are minimal but ended up spending a fortune on flooring, new toilets etc last weekend as we have guests coming to stay in just over a week and we wanted to make the place look better (both loos needed replacing and there is no floor down in utility / downstairs loo/ upstairs bathroom. Result = no working upstairs toilet and still no flooring down :rotfl:

Also getting our motorbikes into the garage at the end of the week to get them back on the road (in time for autumn / winter :D) so that will cost :o

So much for the year of austerity!

To be fair OH is talking about selling his other bike once this one is back on the road so that should pay for the work on both bikes. Mine isn't insured but both his are so overall we should break even.

OH out for the day and it is persisting down here. Planning on a day of cleaning and decluttering. What will probably happen is I will drink lots of tea and surf MSE :D

Went to Aldi as I now work close to one, have really missed being able to shop there and got into the habit of using Ocado so looking forward to saving some money on groceries. Will probably do a monthly Ocado shop, weekly Aldi shop then go to Mr M or Mr S for any other bits.

Have managed to get £3k discount from roofer so have emailed him to get it booked :T

So we need to use £25K of the stooze money rather than £28K. The challenge now is to repay this within 2 years. Ideally I'd like to do it within 1 year but the absolute minimum is 2 years.

Payment is not due until the job is complete so we have a little longer to save up as I suspect it will be 4 to 6 weeks before the work starts due to the lead time on the slates.

This month we will break even so unlikely to send anything more to savings. Next month will need to do better :)

Cat insurance renewal through for our old lady - over £500  We had decided to self insure anyway and this has confirmed our decision. OH told them he was cancelling because the renewal was "eye watering", not sure I would have been so polite

Spoken to roofer, he is ordering slate this week and then will have an idea of potential start date. Likely to be end of October.

Aim for 2nd October is MOS at £12,000. This month is break even only due to expenses last month.

Aim for 2nd November is MOS at £13,000. We have some materials to buy and a job to do before roof work commences. This would mean using £24,000 of stooze money.

OH may not be working away so much in the short term so we might lose out on cashback for hotels which has been providing anywhere between £20 and £40 a week.

Must get back on track with Youg0v, at £39.50 but have lost my motivation.

Sold a book on Am@zon, will net a humungous £1.99 after fees and postage  Nothing selling on eB@y.

£3.27 leftover after bills to last until payday next Friday (plus about £8 in cash). Better increase those NSDs :p

Cashback slow going, got about £270 tracked with no sign of pay out. Youg0v on £40.25, just realised I can do the surveys on my phone at lunchtime :)

Grocery spends under £130 this month, got visitors this weekend but will feed them from the freezer (not literally :D)

    £41.50 now, nearly there!

    £47.91 payable from TCB, up to £604.31 / £1,800.

Next month we may actually manage to increase MOS which I wasn't expecting to do.

Now on a week's leave, weekend with friends here won't be cheap but got all food in already. Lots of DIY to do this week, will probably discover we need lots of bits so expect more expenses :o

Hotel booked for New York, not the most inspiring but free cancellation so at least we have something as hotels are getting booked quickly and prices are phenomenal.

Need to get flights done ASAP. My ones are £40 cheaper than the ones we originally considered. OH's flights will be paid for by company as he is out there for a conference.

Hoping OH's company will pay for airport parking and I will get the train when I fly out to join him.

That moment when you realise that "we'll just replace the toilet and sink" actually equates to ripping out the bathroom, re-plastering, tiling, laying new floor and fitting new bathroom suite.

    Yes, that moment...

I am with you on the bathroom. We have just removed our broken bath panel to discover we are unable to source a replacement unless we have it customer made  Now thinking it may actually be cheaper to replace the suite :rotfl:
