It's a shame Vauxhall/GM don't do something similar to the Ford ETIS system http://www.etis.ford.com/ where with the VIN number or registration you can check the exact spec and options of the vehicle as it rolled off the production line.
Doesn't something like this work?

or this:

or this:

Standard Corsa. No mods...0

They do but it requires the VIN number only:

the dealer will know , as they will have that sort of info
A main franchise dealer is most likely to know provided their DMS system is compliant with Vauxhall standards (which will be pretty much all of the main dealerships).
Vauxhall actually have two integrations which pull back detailed vehicle build information, one is triggered as part of the service booking system and the second can be called at several points and is part of their warranty system. The amount of build details they can provide is pretty impressive.0 -

OP have you checked the usually price comparison sites for insurance. Also while corsa are great solid built cars, which are cheap and easy to repair(until they need a clutch) they do have reputation with boy racer types which pushes the insurance costs up.0 -

Hi, and thanks for all the replies. My local Vauxhall actually called me back to confirm the Wheels/tinted windows are standard.
Have now agreed to purchase the car, just waiting for MOT to be done
Direct Line definitely cheapest by far (£850) They will cover him whilst he still has his provisional licence and the premium won't increase when he passes his test, unlike the majority of others who are quoting crazy prices"Hope for the Best
Prepare for the worst"0 -

I don't know whether solid is a term I'd use, but yes very easy to take to bits and fix yourself. Those z12xe range of engines were pretty basic and easy to sort out. Watch for rattling timing chains when warm though as those tensionsers are poor and it's a fairly involved job to replace.
I agree on the insurance, for me (male, 30) a standard Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 is cheaper than an older Corsa C 1.2 to insure0
