How do I know if car has been modified?

Hi,

My DS is looking a buy his first car, he is 17
We've found a nice looking Corsa 1.2 sxi.
Have got a decent insurance quote through Direct Line but, as I tend to worry about the small stuff, I know you're supposed to tell the insurance company of any mods.
Now, the person selling the car doesn't know, I've obviously googled, and found conflicting answers, I've even called my local Vauxhall dealership & they couldn't tell me!
The car has 15" alloys, tinted windows and chrome exhaust.
It was manufactured in 2006
Can anyone help?

The wheels may be standard (check with a VX dealer to see what was fitted when it rolled off the production line), however the tinted windows and "chrome" exhaust (which I suspect is the size of a small 3rd world country) are odds on to be aftermarket items.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

No, standard spec on the SXI. Check the alloys have the Vauxhall logo on though.

Sorry, no pic. Just went and had a look at this today. The owner has just text me to say he thinks the alloys were std fitted, the exhaust is a push on one?? He's not sure about the tinted windows

compare it to other SXi's for sale on a similar year, if they have same alloys and exhaust trim then it should be standard, look on autotrader

That's an interesting point. If the exhaust trim was, (and it was) originally a bolt on chrome trim, from the factory, or say an integral part of the back box, if it was changed for a cheaper non oe exhaust, as a service item, by say Kwik Fit (other exhaust fitters may be used), and a cheaper, identical spec exhaust was fitted, either without the integral trim, or the bolt on trim had rusted up, so was scrapped with the old exhaust, is that a modification? Or if a new trim was put on, but similar to the old, but not Vauxhall, is that a mod?

Just had a really quick look and the first 5 I've looked at all seem to have tinted rear windows so looks like they are standard.
Panic over! (Direct Line won't insure under 25's with mods)
