Transferring Euros to Pounds Sterling

Options
I have a number of Euros, 10000 in cash to be precise that I need to convert to Pounds Sterling. My bank can only offer a poor tourist rate of 1.33 euros to the pound. Does anyone know of a kinder exchange rate for transferring this amount of money? Any alternative methods?

Ask friends/family/colleagues if they want any for their holidays - sell them at the interbank rate and save you both getting ripped off on the high street. You are bound to know people going on holiday in Euroland this summer. See how much you can get rid of that way before looking at other ways.

For that amount you should be able to negotiate a good rate, as grumbler mentioned you can use Martin Lewis' buyback tool to see who is offering the best buyback rate and then contact them directly they might be able to give you an even better rate based on the amount.
