Well, well, well, mr I'm so well informed condescending a-wipe once asked some noob questions himself, that could have been easily found elsewhere but like me chose to seek the answer here like myself.

Again so my point stands, you found my post with the answer to your original question.
So there was no need for you to ask it!

Seriously at 48 years old, your replies are embarrassing.

Thanks to everyone who gave a positive answer to my first post on this forum, its much appreciated.:D

Unfortunately one poster wasn't so courteous and went against the etiquette, specifically "There's no such thing as a stupid question". I responded in a negative manner to this person and for that i apologise to the helpful members.

In life generally I am always helpful and courteous to anyone who shows me the same respect and will continue to do so here to helpful and genuine people. :footie:

I was beginning to think we weren't going to need Froch v Groves this weekend! ;)

I have this card & find it very useful when purchasing goods/services abroad. Good rates, always, if you get the option, choose to pay in the local currency NOT GBP
I did experience issues on my last trip with card being declined several times, even though I advised Halifax of my trip prior to leaving UK

Thanks, i have informed them of the trip but of course will be having alternative means of payment/cash withdrawal for that very reason.

Not a question of "if"...MasterCard rules dictate you MUST be given the choice of whether to pay in local currency or allow the retailer to convert (using DCC to their advantage).

Similar advice for cash withdrawals...the ATM will ask something along the lines of "do you want us to do the conversion or your own bank?" In this case you select your own bank.

I believe the ATM will be asking the question 'local currency or Sterling.' i will be going local.
