Talktalk price rise, Left within 30 days, guess what? Huge bill

As above, I had a letter informing me of price rise. Letter said i could leave within 30 days with no termination fee, as I had 12 months left on contract.
Now received bill for £341 for terminating my contract. I suppose i was expecting problems, after all it's Talktalk!!
I even went on online chat to make sure I could cancel without termination fee and was told I could. I have the online chat saved, luckily.
I even cancelled my direct debit knowing this was likely to happen.

I have to get this sorted now before i get a missed payment that will affect my credit history. But what is my best way of doing this? I know from past experience phoning them is next to useless.

Does the Talktalk rep still come on here?

Stuart

    No. I didn't get a mac code.
I went to BT and they didn't need one.

So, I've been on web chat, £200 is for not retuning Youview box in the returns bag!, Which I have not been ask to do, nor have i recieved a bag. one is on it's way now, so hopefully that will be sorted.

They gave me a number to call regarding contract breakage fee of £150. They've told me when i return my router then this will be cancelled. So hopefully i'm getting somewhere.

Trouble is, I've had experience with TalkTalk promises before, so I half know it's gonna go on and on!!

I too had that £200 YouView charge -phoned them and they did credit my account within an hour (I think they had to pass it to a manager) so the DD amount reflected it. Said they's send a 'bag' but never did.

I just expect this level of service from every company now so keep very good notes of everything so when you do phone you're well armed.

I'm still awaitning my final bill from them after leaving within the 30 day period. Not expecting it it to be smooth sailing but like you I have kept a copy of the online chat.

TT disconnected my service with them in the early hours of switch day, fortunately Plusnet had me up and running with phone by about 10:30am and BB by 1ish.

I didn't have the youview box so at least that shouldn't appear on my final bill, nor did I get a MAC code as Plusnet didn't need one but I don't expect anything less than abysmal service from talktalk so they're bound to issue me with a highly inflated final bill.

Good luck OP, let us know how you get on.

Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on.
I was planning on going back to TalkTalk in the future, they are cheap and never had problem with my broadband, but never again now.

There customer service is absolutely useless, when you get through to customer services, foreign call center, their English is terrible, it is so hard to communicate with them.
