Mistyped Car Reg Number - got tickets!

Husband transposed two numbers in the car reg plate when he parked for 3 days in a private car park. They sent notices for £100 per day (ie £300). After writing to explain and sent copies of the actual tickets - ie. he paid for parking but just put XV instead of VX (!) they have reduced it to £15 admin charge per day - ie £45 total. He wants to take it to POPLA because it was an honest mistake and he has paid for parking and he can prove it. I think it's easier just to pay the £45 and not have the hassle. Has anyone any experience of similar circumstances please? Thanks.
p.s. I have indeed read the Newbies post but just wanted reassurance that people have appealed - and won - under these circumstances!!

DO NOT attempt to win a POPLA appeal with mittigation about typing the wrong numbers, you will lose.

Yes everyone here wins at POPLA but NOT NOT NOT using the argument he wants to say! Use the template from the NEWBIES thread if you've not yet appealed. Then use an example from post #3 of the same sticky 'How to win at POPLA' (how to lose would be to talk about transposing figures).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

G24. Thanks for the info. I'm afraid my brain won't take all this in but I'll get my husband to have a look at all the helpful info which has been put on the various links. Presumably though he can say what happened - ie the facts were that he put in the incorrect reg numbers and that's why he's been issued with the ticket?0

Personally I would pay them the £45 and kill it. If you are new to all this, there is a time and stress cost with preparing POPLA appeals, even if it is certain that you would win if you do it correctly. £45 is still too much, though.0

OK. Have they actually turned down your appeal and issued a POPLA code? I suspect not. They are still at the "bargain offer" stage.
So you write back, rejecting their offer and point out to them that they have lost nothing and would, therefore, have difficulty in winning a case based on genuine pre-estimate of loss at POPLA.
Tell them that they must either cancel or send you 3 separate POPLA codes (1 for each ticket) and tell them that you will be submitting an appeal to POPLA in each case based on GPEOL and other points.
With any luck, they will weigh up the 3 x £27 POPLA fees against the abysmal record of PPCs when facced with a GPEOL appeal at POPLA and cancel.
If you actually get the pOPLA codes, come back for further advice.0 -

I have taken on G24 many times and have won everytime.
You need to do a soft appeal to them directly per invoice.
Then, when they refuse it, take it to PoPLA appeal.
I wouldn't just go for no genuine pre-estimate of loss alone, but do the research and hit them for everything under the sun.
Do not accept them deferring their own soft appeal pending further information. It's just a stalling tactic.
Whatever you do, do not ignore, as although they don't have a rep for court action, does not mean they won't start with you.
Do not call them, or they will think that they have you on the hook and won't leave you alone.
Do not go for mitigation as an appeal, as it never works.
These are not parking tickets. Only Police and Council appointed traffic wardens can issue those. They are an invoice over an alledged breach of contract between the driver and G24 (who probably aren't the landowner anyway).

Why don't you offer to pay it on their behalf then?

You have already paid for the parking on the days you were there.
Why would you want to pay them another £45? ... That's just their rule.

All great points thank you. Yes, we did explain why we didn't want to pay and they emailed back POPLA codes for each of the three Notices. Interested in the idea of contacting them and saying we are prepared to go to POPLA - would they like to strike out the admin fee now - maybe it would work - or maybe no one has the authority to make sensible decisions!0
