Ppi nightmare!

Really hoping someone can help... My partner got a car finance from a vauxhall dealership called Seward it has since gone bust. but the car finance was through GMAC including accident ppi he had not asked for and was a pre ticked box... I tested the water about a year ago by phoning GMAC they've said it's not their responsibility even though they were the ones the monthly payment has been going too... So I tried going through the dealership but no luck, tried phoning cab and the financial ombudsman and both say GMAC is responsible. But after googling it seems nobody has managed to complete a claim with them... I don't think they even come under the financial ombudsman... What do I try now?

Thanks

What did the dealership say and what year did you take this out?.
It is Vauxhall the complaint should be made to as they sold the loan and the PPI.

If you bought this car prior to January 2005 then this is a pre-regulation complaint and you are wasting your time. As you say, you have no recourse to the Ombudsman and no one will have to even consider your complaint.

The dealership has closed down and been taken over by a company called Eden who do the same thing just changed names by the sound of it... But they won't help either and also said it wasn't their problem. Who do I go to on behalf of a closed down dealership? And it was 2006 the loan was taken out. X

This helps your case. You need to complain to Vauxhall as Amersall said.

Yes, you'll obviously need the address to write to.

Try these, Head office may be best bet, explain about the dealership going bust or they may give you the run around.

And if Vauxhall refuse to accept responsibility, you can go to the FSCS

You need to write a formal complaint to GMAC and wait for them to issue a "full and final" response. (I hope that there is no record of you having "tested the water" a year ago or you may be time-barred.)

When you have the response from GMAC (around eight weeks), you may then be able to approach the FSCS if GMAC deny liability.
