How is it in any way money-saving (what this site is about, remember) to donate goods you could sell to charity?
I have no axe to grind about donating to charity, but to say it is money saving? It's no more money-saving than putting them in the bin!:rotfl:

If you are a higher rate tax payer (and that's not so difficult these days) and join up to your favoured charity Gift Aid schemes, HMRC will reimburse you £25 for every £100 they make from donated goods. Also you get the same £25 per £100 of donations. You need either a DD or receipts from the charity, they don't need to be large amounts. If the donation is a regular DD HMRC may alter your tax code a bit.

This only applies to higher rate tax not basic.

I've never had a problem with MusicMagpie, but they don't pay much and they do take ages. You can get a few pennies more by going via TCB or Quidco.

Cash Converters pay peanuts bit if you're looking to buy, you can find some bargains online.
  • I tend to use my local selling pages on Facebook.
