    That's hardly the money-saving option…

It is only not a money-saving option if you do not like any of the charities that have shops.

Or, perish the thought, you are the sort of person who never gives to charity.

How is it in any way money-saving (what this site is about, remember) to donate goods you could sell to charity?
I have no axe to grind about donating to charity, but to say it is money saving? It's no more money-saving than putting them in the bin!:rotfl:

What is it you do not understand? Instead of donating cash to a charity you donate goods. In what way is that not reducing your out-goings? If you place them in the bin then you would still have to pay cash to your charity.

    It's not complicated.

I can't see anyone who normally pays cash to charity deciding to donate DVDs instead!
DVDs which the charity might never even be able to sell..

Anyway, I believe you are just being deliberately contrary, so I think we should leave it there...

uk.webuy.com I would recommend that one too, lots of decent stuff

    ditto here!
  • I give my cd's / dvd's and other stuff to charities and have signed up to gift aid.

Every so often I will get an email from them saying how much they have collected from selling my stuff. The email also gives the option of sending me the money, after the charity has taken their cut of course. I have never taken the charities up on giving me the money but the offer is there.

So yes, giving to charity can be moneysaving if you do not want to have the bother of selling on ebay or CEX.
