How to I find out my land line number?

Just got a new place, previous tenants disappeared. How do i find out what the landline number is? I plugged in a phone in the hope of calling my mobile to find the number but the line is dead. Not tone of any description.

In that case you don't have any number. You will be assigned a number when you order a landline service for the premises.

You may or may not get a new number. Depends on demand.

Someone posted they couldnt get a line activated because there were no number left to allocate to that area. Not something you would think of happening these days.
