Sorry if thie is dead obvious to most of you but I'd like a shortcut to a blank word page so I can cut and paste stuff without having to use programs, microsoft word etc. My pc at work has it on the tool bar at the top, but my own doesn't.
Thanks
Thanks

I think you may be a little muddled here. A blank Word page requires Word to start up so you would be "using" it in order simply to look at the blank page and then to cut & paste to it.
What sort of stuff do you want to cut & paste? Does the clipboard not work for you?
Which version of Windows & Word do you use?
Do you actually just want an icon that will load Word with a new, blank document or do you want some other way to "hold" something that you cut? And which type of files are you cutting from & pasting to?
Sorry for the questions, but if you talk us through what you are trying to do, we can come up with the best option.

Thanks, Windows XP pro, Word 97. I often copy blocks of text, such as recipes or tips for a holiday I'm planning. I highlight the text press control c open word and control v and print out. This saves me printing a lot of stuff I don't need. Someone on here showed me how and it works fine. I just wondered whether I could make it easier by having a shortcut to word. Bear with me as I'm not the best at using a pc. but I do manage to achieve what I want most of the time, though probably not the easiest way round.

Click start, all programs, word should be on the list. Right-click it, click send it to desktop. From there you can drag it down to the taskbar, then delete it from the desktop if you don't want it there.
Is that what you mean?

To put the icon on the task bar and have it always visible you need to enable the Quick Launch toolbar.
To do this, right-click an empty area of the taskbar, go to Toolbars and select Quick Launch. You can now drag and drop the Word icon from the desktop into the Quick Launch area. If the icon isn't visible, right click the task bar, untick Lock the Taskbar, expand it by dragging the dotted lines and lock it again.0 -
I'm back now, but see your sorted. Excellent

Here's a useful tip when pasting into Word from the Internet:
Go to Edit > Paste Special
Choose 'Unformatted text'
This will a) hugely speed up the pasting process
b) avoid pasting all the different frames and boxes that are part of your typical web page
c) ensure your text appears in your default format for Word
OK you can't use the right click or Ctrl-V facility with this* but it's still saved me loads of time over the years
* but I bet someone will post a way you can set up a shortcut or set up your right mouse button to do that. Anyone?0
