Just wanted to clarify if UKPC have given up on chasing the parking charge notice they sent to me.
I got a parking charge notice from UKPC on 14 March 2014 stating "i parked in an area where no parking is allowed" - I parked on a double yellow line. The reason why they put double yellow lines is because the road is near the train station and they've put the lines there to put off commuters. I live in one of the flats by the road, where residences only have one parking space each, so there is overspill onto the road. For the past year, I haven't had a problem as I park after 6pm, but they have been cheeky and been dishing out tickets in the evening.
They wrote to me on 15 April 2014 and 30 April 2014, the later stating if I, the registered keeper, do not pay in 14 days, I would be liable for the £100 charge. I responded to the letter on 12 May 2014 using your suggested letter in your newbie section (I obviously tweaked it slightly to fit my situation).
I went on holiday and I've just come back to find a letter dated 15 May2014 from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd chasing payment. I called them up to explain I have written to UKPC and was waiting for their response, but the lady cut me short to say that their client (UKPC), have instructed them to cancel the ticket. Does this mean my appeal worked and I won't hear from UKPC?
Many thanks in advance.

I would not phone either DR+ or UKPC neither are very nice, polite, or interested in anything but money!0

I know that we are firmly in the days of the telephone but when dealing with these companies or any of their ilk you should keep communication in writing. Then there can be no confusion over what was said or not.
That said, it sounds as though you have struck the right chord with UKPC (in other words they could see that they would have lost when you went to the next appeal stage - POPLA) and have thrown in the towel in order to save themselves the appeal fee.
One might argue that they know full well that they haven't a leg to stand on. (Other views available).
Let's see what else arrives in the post.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Thanks for the responses and as you say, I'll wait and see what comes in the post.
I have a feeling they know the key problem is that you cannot possibly quantify a loss as I didn't park in car park and my car didn't block or obstruct anything.
As I mentioned in my message, clearly they weren't getting enough tickets during the day so they decided to get their numbers up by catching out residences in the evening!0 -
Just to let you know I have received a letter from UKPC and they confirmed that the ticket has been cancelled.
They apologised for the inconvenience and that they made a mistake "due to a administrative error".
I've recommended the website to everyone i know should they end up with one of these parking tickets!0 -
Do you know they seem to make a lot of administrative errors. If I made that many in my job, I would be sacked!Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. They do indeed like that template 'admin error' letter!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I wonder if there is some reason why they use 'admin error' rather than saying the appeal has been successful. I wonder if they are recorded differently somewhere.0
