Foreign currency - when to get it!!

Hi

I have a Halifax Clarity card that I will be taking with my on my Canada and USA trip in August. I'm just wondering if its worth getting the cash I want to take (approx £300) while the exchange rates are high now...I know its always a gamble but I'm curious what other MSE's do :)

thanks :)
I love a bargain and saving money! I don't have any debts and mortgage repaid in 2020

To be honest, it's not worth worrying about. If you are only thinking of spending £300 then a few cents change in the exchange rate isn't going to make much difference any way.

I rarely buy currency in advance, only if eg I'll be arriving late at a small airport and will need cash for onward transport, and then just £20 or so, where the rate doesn't really matter within reason as long as it's "commission free" ie no fixed charge.

I just get cash out on arrival, with some GBP or EUR cash for emergencies. I always have left over Euros knocking about - I deliberately overdraw about EUR50 or so for the next trip.
