Any suggestions for 'best buy' tyres

I don't mean to actually fit the tyres yourself, I mean the hassle of getting them supplied from one place, delivered to you and then having to get them to another garage, to fit.
Lots hassles!

That's not how it works with me.
Tyres are ordered online and delivered to my home. Local fitter comes and fits them and balances wheel. I don't need to leave home. I save £18 a tyre, not a lot but x 4 and I've saved over £70 and that's a tank of petrol.0 -

Last time I used this method, 2 places refused and the third charged £20 per tyre. A lot of hassle and no saving.
Blackcircles etc. deliver to your chosen fitter for example for the price advertised. Most local fitters will start off high then come down to a reasonable price.
I was quoted £115 for a 205/55/16 Michelin Energy Saver, 30 seconds later it was £88...
Basically, sometimes the nationals have good deals, sometimes, the locals, sometimes the buy direct get fitted locally is best. Everyone will have there preferred method and good/bad stories.
Camskill (and all the other suppliers I've used) will deliver to your chosen garage,if you ask.
A decent garage (even in the South East) will charge around £10 each.
I've had to run the numbers within the past couple of weeks as I needed two tyres and buying online plus £10 a corner was considerably cheaper than Blackcircles, from whom I'd have got two inferior tyres for the same money.0 -

Camskill will deliver anywhere. But that relies on you having first talked to your local fitter, which for the most part people won't have.
Well in my experience it was £20 a wheel and a fair few wouldn't do it at all, that was a few years ago.
camskill sell the tyre I just bought (for £88 fitted), for £68.25 + £2.99 delivery. A saving of £16.16, but not fitted. Assuming I call a few local fitters and agree to have the tyre delivered there and can get the price down to £10 for fitting, that is a saving of £6.16. But I have to call x number of garages to get price, and ok the delivery. Order the tyre from Camskill, advise said garage of delivery, wait for the garage to call me to advise the tyre is there, go to said garage. Job done, or for £6.16, go to tyre centre job done. For £6.16 the saving isn't worth it (for me).0 -
Don't buy your tyres based on price. cheap chinese tyres are death traps. Do your research and read reviews of the tyres you are considering buying.
From my experience:
Event tyres (wl905) - Ruin the car in the dry and downright dangerous in the wet.
Wan-li - Not as bad as events but pretty poor in the wet too.
Kumho (Ecsta SPT KU31) - Excellent performance in all conditions but wear a bit fast. Reasonable price too.0 -
Try to buy a tires on discount, and then, local garage guys will fit them :beer:0
