Any suggestions for 'best buy' tyres
I need to get new tyres for my van and was quite surprised not to find any recommendations/ suggestions for purchasing tyres on Martin's site. So here goes, does anyone have any good experiences of good prices for tyres? Or, are there any places to avoid?
I am aware of Cashback sites and use them when I can. Also that buying online is often cheaper, but are there any other ways to make savings?
I look forward to reading your ideas.

Buy online, get a local independent garage to fit them. It's usually cheaper. I find.0

Agreed.
I personally use Camskill http://www.camskill.co.uk/ but there are others.
It does pay to shop around for tyres because different companies seem to have manufacturers promotions at different times of the year.0 -
You have to look around. Last time I found Marshal tyres from Formula 1 autocentres online the best buy (not cheapest; I mean best price/quality trade off) and you can get some cashback using TopCashBack too.0

We use Event Tyres, their prices are very good and they will come to you house or work to fit the tyres. We've used them a few times and have been impressed with their service. You book online and they call the day that they are due to confirm when they will arrive. You only pay once the tyres are fitted.

They have a price beat policy, 10% of difference, if you find a lower cost.
Also discounted tracking check if you print off the voucher (but the guys in the centre would do it cheaper anyway)
And, depending on the van you have and use it gets, do look into the actual tyre you choose, rather than just size or price. There are options, not as many as cars, but a budget unknown brand at half the price of say a Michelin, reinforced, similar to original fitment will last years, as opposed to months.
Most on line sites allow you to enter reg number, to come up with a few options.
I disagree with buying the tyres and getting someone else to fit. A lot of messing about and if there was a problem it could be one against the other, for blame.

I don't mean to actually fit the tyres yourself, I mean the hassle of getting them supplied from one place, delivered to you and then having to get them to another garage, to fit.
Lots hassles!

The tyres don't get delivered to you, they will be waiting at the fitting centre you chose to have them fitted at (at least that is the experience I've had over the last 10 years).I don't mean to actually fit the tyres yourself, I mean the hassle of getting them supplied from one place, delivered to you and then having to get them to another garage, to fit.

VBUndersteer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

No. Camskill supply the tyres to your home/work. You then need to find a fitter to swap the tyres over. Works well if you have a decent local fitter who will do it for cash. Last time I used this method, 2 places refused and the third charged £20 per tyre. A lot of hassle and no saving.
Blackcircles etc. deliver to your chosen fitter for example for the price advertised. Most local fitters will start off high then come down to a reasonable price.
I was quoted £115 for a 205/55/16 Michelin Energy Saver, 30 seconds later it was £88...
Basically, sometimes the nationals have good deals, sometimes, the locals, sometimes the buy direct get fitted locally is best. Everyone will have there preferred method and good/bad stories.0
