I have one of the above, I have tried it on three different tvs in the house and each time I go to the relevant tv channel I get the message 'no signal' on the screen. There is no problem with connections, cables, aerial etc, all tvs have a perfect picture and a similar Panasonic player works perfectly on all tvs, any idea what the problem could be please?

What cables are you using to connect from the player to the TV?0

In the living room I have tried it with a scart lead and hdmi cable, upstairs with just the aerial cable, the aerial, which is on roof, gives excellent reception through the house and as I said our similar Panasonic set gives no trouble. When the aerial cable goes straight into tv when trying in bedroom, easier access, the picture is perfect, when going through the player, we get the no signal message, it's puzzling, am I missing something obvious? The important things in life are not things ........0

What 'signal' is missing? Does this DVD/VCR have an analogue and/or digital tuner. Is the TV saying no signal or is the DVD/VCR saying no signal because, perhaps, it's on the analogue tuner?!0

Ooh, you know when you have your DVD / VCR connected through the tv, when it's on, and the tv is on the AV channel you can see the picture on the tv of whatever channel the player is set to, if you change the channel on the player it changes on the tv, that's what's not showing, it's as though I'm receiving a signal through the aerial to the tv ok but once I route it through the player the signal/picture goes and I get that message, can't even get the set up screen to try and tune anything in, sorry I'm not very technical but I do generally manage with new equipment but I don't know what to try, of course the player, although brand new, could be faulty I suppose. The important things in life are not things ........0

How can I tell if I'm getting the no signal message from the player or the tv?
Have connected with aerial cable and scart lead which has at least given me the opportunity to go through the set up, however after the auto channel search, no channels are found and same no signal message, it is just as though the signal from the aerial is being blocked by the player. The important things in life are not things ........0 -

Of course, you can still use your combo to watch DVD's and videos.
The only way to receive TV is to connect a digital set-top box with UHF output (very rare now) or (even better) connect it to the to scart input of your combo unit.
If you your TV has analogue UHF input (most have) you could connect the combo to the TV via UHF (aerial cable from player to TV) - you would also need to tune the TV in analogue mode).
Perhaps the time has come to upgrade to modern PVR?

Scrounger - funny.money says this device is brand new, but I can't imagine there are too many brand new DVD/VHS combos around. Do you have a model number funny.money? How can I tell if I'm getting the no signal message from the player or the tv?
I still suspect your DVD/VCR has only an analogue tuner, or a faulty or incompatible digital one.
Connection check - you should have a SCART lead from an AV out on the DVD/VCR, to AV1 on the TV. You should have the Aerial lead from the wall to aerial IN on the DVD/VCR. Then another lead from the aerial OUT of the DVD/VCR to the Aerial IN of the TV. I think you've got this right but just checking.0 -
Thanks for the replies: I have had the combo for about a year but have only just got round to setting it up - mainly because our Panasonic combo has developed a problem with the dvd player (ideally I would like to replace it with another Panasonic, TV is also, and it all connects up etc etc). However can't afford that right now so making use of the other (problem) one.
So it is new in the fact it hasn't been used. I understand about the analogue thing - all our TVs are digital and the combo is a DV102731 model - if that's any help, almillar and I do have the connections done as you've said. It has two scart sockets and an HDMI socket. As I have said apart from the make it is exactly the same as our Panasonic combo with which we have no problems at all. Also as I said programmes are received fine on the TV until it goes through the combo player - am I being exceptionally thick here or what?
Incidentally there are lots of Combos still on the market - I especially like them as my grandchildren have lots of Disney videos they like to watch and you can be watching a DVD while recording something on video or vice-versa and for transfering old videos to DVD.
So the TV is digital, the Combo is new, it is connected via aerial and scart - ?????????
DVDs play perfectly.
Just found a section in the handbook explaining how you can change channels using the combo remote then goes on to say:
NOTE When no TV channels are available, the message 'No Signal' will be displayed.
Aaagh - my channels are available just not when the combo player is connected - it must be faulty???The important things in life are not things ........0 -

One of the scart sockets on your TV should give TV out so there *may* be a solution (complicated):
Connect a (fully wired) scart lead from your TV (may need to read the tv manual to configure it as tv output) to the input or (better) input/output socket of you combo.
That may be all you need to do as scart will do input and output simultaneously provided the lead is fully wired and the ports can be configured as such. Sometimes on videos there are arrows indicating input only or two opposing arrows meaning bi-directional (input & output).
Otherwise run another scart cable from the combo (output) back up to your TV another scart socket (input). (Or may be able to use a hdmi connection - providing that mode doesn't turn off the TV out from the scart on the TV).
Aerial cable to your TV only.
Done correctly, your TV will send a video signal to your combo (from which you may record) and then pass it back out to your TV (known as 'loop through' mode)
Sorry, I warned you it was a bit complicated.

Thank you so much Scrounger for your time taken and reply. I am a bit busy from now over this weekend as it's our 40th wedding anniversary (!!!). However, I will print your reply and try to get to grips with it next week and post (a hopefully successful) update.
As an afterthought, before I tackle the problem - the thing that puzzles me most, reading your reply and the ones on the site referred to - is why our Panasonic Combi Player, which is quite a few years old, has been no problem whatsoever - before and after the digital switch-over - and yet this new one is being a pain? The important things in life are not things ........0
