Paper tax disc, no longer required to be displayed

I think that there should be something on the screen to show that the car is road legal.
How is a booby on the beat or a pcso/ceo going to detect parked cars that are uninsured/untaxed?
At present simply not having a disc on the screen doesn't mean the car is untaxed or uninsured does it?
They use what the computer says for that. (And boobys on the beat need good bras.)0 -

No but it certainly gives you a clue. If a car is displaying a tax disc which is say, 2 months + out of date, it follows that it's probably uninsured as well.
I think it will increase the amount of drivers who buy second hand cars and fail to register them in their names.
In my opinion, it's a bad idea.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
I'm guessing the offence of 'failure to display' will be wiped out totally as well.
Call me paranoid but if I park up and the car next to me has a very out of date tax disk there is a reasonable chance I'll move my own car. I tend to assume (rightly or wrongly) that failure to bother to stick the bit of paper in the window probably shows a lacklustre attitude towards those little things like MOT's and Insurance.
That said I do prefer the look of a car without the disk.0
