    lol, you're obsessed!

(Yes it was, and I also had another one with me and a friend sharing one girl)

About a decade ago. I'm sorry I brought it up! :D

I can’t believe you give it all this, I’m useless, I’ve never achieved anything don’t have a brain, etc, etc and you have had two threesomes. It is obvious if you put your mind to something you can achieve it.

Well done, on missing out the last part of the sentence in my post.....

Given that it changed nothing about the sense of the piece to which I was responding, there was no need to quote it.

And no, he's not really "trying", he's attempting to scrape along the bottom.

You seem genuinely upset or confused that somoene has a different opinion to you about how much return someone can expect for how much input. Why is that? Why can't you accept that others (including our government) set the line at a different point to you?

I rather think missing out the last part of my sentence changed the whole nature of what was said.
You physically have to remove words from a quote. Why didn't you just leave the quote as it was, if you didn't want to try and make your argument stronger?

Well, I can see this. Maybe you can't.

You don't improve someone's confidence by saying that they should not get any help from the government.
Fortunately, the government have not imposed such draconian measures, as it seems you would like to see.
Improving your self-esteem is not a quick fix.
    I know - I have a lack of self-belief too.

My weaknesses and failures are to do with the working world.
The fact that I've had some social success (can make friends easy for example) is irrelevant in my eyes.
You can have all the threesomes you want if you happen to look like Tom Welling, and you don't need a single brain cell. You don't need to 'put your mind too it'

I'm curious as to what you think the OP should be doing and why you think he's attempting to scrape along the bottom?

He's trying to get a job that he thinks he'll have a very good chance of landing by the sounds of it? I would have thought that that would please the anti-benefit crowd?? (In fact, I just read that he's not even claiming!)

What do you suggest he does?

You are lucky to look like Tim Walling then! (who is he?)

And if you find it easy to make friends, then why is it you don’t find it easy in interviews? They are a social situation too.

Do your friends know how unhappy you are with regards to not working?

I don't look like Tom Welling (actor).
Just saying that in some situations you need nothing other than God given good looks to 'succeed' at things such as pulling a girl.
And if you find it easy to make friends, then why is it you don’t find it easy in interviews? They are a social situation too.

I don't really know. Interviews are about selling yourself and you are judged on your work history and your qualifications. Mine is unimpressive to say the least.
You need to appear over-confident and be a master of bull$hitting.
    Social situations are completely different.
Do your friends know how unhappy you are with regards to not working?

We don't talk about serious stuff
My highest ever paid job was about 16k.
Lots of my friends earn about 80k+
It's best for my ego if I steer the subjects away from a conversation that can only lead to depression/envy/rage/homicide

    Morgan,

Would bar work be something that would suit you?
    At least, in the short-term?

You seem to find it easy to make friends, so that would mean you are good at talking to people in an informal setting?

I've said what I'd recommend, which is improving their skills.

As to where I get the idea that they want to scrape along the bottom, they are looking for "brain-dead" work. Does that not implyt, to you, a certain lack of ambition?

And before you decide to get the wrong idea, this has nothing to do with what they morally "ought" to do, it's simply a statement that if this is what they aim for, that they will likely live a poorer life than they otherwise would. If they are happy that way, that's fine, but I don't get that impression.

I also don't get why so many on here seem happy to suggest that people should aim low. If you read the other parts of the forum, it can leave you one small misfortune away from utter misery.

    No.
I've tried before and I was awful. I have a very bad memory for starters and got everything wrong on busy shifts. I kept messing up on the till, too. I didn't last long!

I'm hoping there's something out there, and that someone will suggest an idea, maybe for a course, and say:

''Oh you should take a course in xxxxx. My brother took a course in xxxxx and qualified in a few months, and it landed him a nice job in an office where he just sits at his PC and mainly works writing emails/updating customer info etc, and he gets more than minimum wage''
