Left them last November - received a final bill today !
Joke of a company - but it gets better............
Tried to pay what they say I owe and told that I need to telephone somebody called Moorcroft and also a firm of solicitors.
I only got the letter today (and one last week) !!
NEVER EVER go near these clowns.
Dave
If they did the same to me then I would be sending them a formal written complaint and demanding confirmation that they would correct any inaccurate information that they may have sent to credit reference agencies.0 -
I switched from npower in December I received a final bill for Gas in that month and a final bill for electricity in Jan. I submitted meters to them at the time of switch which my new supplier has confirmed they agreed with Npower. After the final bill in Jan I received a small refund. In June that generated another final bill and are now demanding £172 for what? They said as my first final bill was an estimate despite by submission of readings. I I cannot even see how they arrived at the figure owed as I had my meter updated and they continued to use the old meter readings a total rubbish company avoid like the plague0

I was on payment meters, they sent me a bill saying i owed about 50 quid. They then sent the debt recovery letters. I'm suprised moorcroft have been out to visit people they seem more of a toothless tiger.
I wont be paying them anything, i pay for my energy before i use it.
Was tempted to send them a letter asking them to send me all of my usage for the time i was with them to see if they are correct, but i haven't been arsed and just forgot about them.0 -
I have been getting letters from a debt collection agency who say that I owe NPower for outstanding bills, I dispute this as the bills go back to June 2012. I have asked the debt agency to provide me with proof of debt, of which they have failed to do, this has been going on for about a year now.
Am I liable to pay these bills if they cannot prove proof of debt?0 -

One thing that seems slightly odd is you say you dispute the debt as the bills go back to June 2012. However that would not, of itself, seem a sufficient reason for disputing the bills.0 -
I left npower in May 2014 I had a final bill which I paid, I then have received a year later letters informing me that I owe more money on both gas and electric of a total of nearly £300. On contacting them they said that this was for usage during the change over of suppliers, they had never written to me or contacted me prior to this. I made formal complaints to them and still they wrote to me with final demand notices. I then received letters from debt recovery agents Moorcroft and as I am too frightened to end up with a CCJ for it I have now agreed a payment plan to repay these costs. The reason I left npower in the first place is because they messed up my tariffs and then not receiving bills for over 6 months and to be told its just an error in their systems with no idea of when it will be resolved I decided to swap supplier. I think it is disgusting that a company can treat its customers this way.0

Anyone know where I stand on this? Left npower almost a year ago and out of the blue I received a bill for £90 credit. I rang them up and spoke to a rather unhelpful woman who just kept repeating that this was my final bill. She couldn't explain why it had taken 11 months to reach me. Anyway, it took another 4 phone calls and almost 3 months for npower to finally refund me the money. Immediately they refunded me, they sent a bill for the £90 they had refunded! I don't want my credit score to be affected as I plan to remortgage in a few months time, but I don't want to pay a bill that Im not confident I owe.
Incidentally, to those who have had amounts randomly debited after leaving npower, why not cancel your direct debit with the bank when you leave them, then they won't be able to do it.0 -
This is genuinely the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with in my 40 odd years of existence:
1) During my 1 year with them they never managed to get a bill out to me and when they did it was covered in errors and incomprehensible;
2) They cancelled all monies I owed them back in Oct 2013 due to gross internal incompetence and system issues. Now in August 2015 (after 22 months!!) I get a final outstanding bill (with no backup or evidence) requesting I pay £1000)
3) I have been put on hold for more than an hour to talk to customer services to resolve and close off the above today. When I did get through they stated that they needed to put me through to the billing team, which no one picked up at...hence 1 hour of wasted time for me
4) I have now written to them to formally compalin and will be contacting the Ombudsman at the same time.
This company is beyond farcical it amazes it is still in business after the number of complaints it has received, the way it treats its customers and its shambolic business practices.
Incidentally their CEO and CFO were sacked last week, I wonder why?
One request: OFGEM SHUT DOWN THIS MUPPET OUTFIT NOW!!0 -

I was with them for gas for about a year. (I had also asked to transfer my electricity to them but they instead switched a neighbour's electricity bills into my name and then took over a year, and many, many complaints to sort out the mess.)
I finally left them in February and paid my final on time and in full. Since then I have had 26 erroneous account entries, was sent a cheque for £152 and a bill for the same amount next day. When I complained they credited my account back with the £152 but meantime managed to bill me £200 for electricity (which they never supplied). They ignored the substance of my complaint and said they would not call off their debt collectors (because of the electricity bill they had erroneously raised since the start of my complaint).
So I agree they are dreadful. Something is far wrong with the company and Ofgem is failing to regulate them properly.0 -
Im in desperate need for help guys. We switched from Npower about 8 weeks ago to a cheaper energy provider. I received confirmation at the time from Npower to say the switch was successful and that was the last i heard from them. Until last night when my wife checked the bank to notice that they had taken £360 out of our bank account, meaning that our mortgage payment couldn't be made. Are they allowed to do this? My wife is at home on maternity leave with our new born son and doesnt receive maternity support as she works for a charity, so money is tight especially this time of year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!0
