Have to admit I am watching this thread too, similar reasons to the others.

Desperately need a new bathroom refurb, only the bath is staying in situ as its metal, it will need re enameling though.oh and the windows cos they pretty new.

But the whole lot other wise is being ripped out and all new from floorboards up.

Not even got anyone in to quote me yet but have no money either yet.
Scared to ask for quotes now after seeing this. ;)
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

I would just suggest getting plenty of quotes, with a breakdown of the work - we are getting quotes for refurbing our bathroom/ shower-room at the moment (including moving walls and doors) and so far have a quote just under £6K (a builder) and one just over £10K (a bathroom fitter/ carpenter, that I naiively thought would be cheaper!). That's for everything except new suite. 2 more to get!

I wouldn't pay anything like that for a jack of all trades to do nearly everything. You say they work together but they are crossing over on their quotations. If the builder fits the loo, what does the plumber do?
Have you decided on fittings yet?
They normally work together so sort out the schedule, etc
Yes, we have a list of sanitary ware compiled

Seems extortion. We can fully strip your average 3mx 2m bathroom. Plaster fully off walls. Ceiling down, floor back to joists and replace everything with new in 10days with 2 men. Max labour price should be around 4k. 1k will get you all building materials , window supplied and fitted say £400-£800 for a rehau or kommerling with opaque glass. All certified and to current building standards
Shop around and ask friends and family for further recommendations. Don't write off bathroom fitters who do it all, we can finish jobs quicker, cheaper and leave a superior finish to using individual trades who haven't a foggiest how to tie all the trades together
I wish you were available in my area andy….We have another guy (recommendation from neighbour) coming around on Saturday. We are also waiting for a quote from a guy who came around couple of weeks ago
Why do you want to combine the bathroom and toilet?
You have thought about it, but the only way to have a shower enclosure and bath separate is by merging them together. It is just me and OH so we should be okay..
