dual policy on car

Really need help
Sold my car and cancelled my insurance (insurance didn't permit driving other vehicles and would have closed after 7 days without a vehicle on policy)
My partner can't insure me on her policy due to me having a couple accidents which were non fault despite me putting in my old car as a new quote and my premium being £100-200 cheaper!)
Need a car to get to work the next 2-3 weeks before finding my own car. Public transport not an option due to remote locations
What are my options? I can't open a new policy on a car already with a policy with someone else?
Any way round it?
I have nearly 3 years no claims
Cancelling partner policy and adding me fresh would be too much and bump her premium

Despite urban myths saying otherwise, you can have a policy on a car which already has a policy on it. That's exactly what this sort of policy is: http://www.aviva.co.uk/short-term-car-insurance/We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Hmm why did the 2 insurers (mine and hers) say otherwise?
Really needs insuring from tomorrow
Is aviva best? Is there a comparison site specifically for it?
Thanks0 -

Short term policies are quite expensive.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Hmm partner cancelling her policy with cancellation fee and starting fresh annual policy is £150 more than her on her own
Me taking out a 21 day policy on my own and finding a car in 2 or 3 weekends is £150
I got a £100 refund for the remainder of my policy when I cancelled today0 -

a) most likely the call centre staff don't know what they are talking about
and
b) even though they CAN offer such a policy, they choose not to insure vehicles which have another policy on them, and the call centre operator may assume that every insurer has the same rules [see a) above]. It's a commercial decision - they can't be forced to offer cover under certain circumstances, just because the law allows them to.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

What insurance company and did you to speak to a manager? Two non fault accidents seems harsh to refuse to add you. Lots of non fault accidents does indicate a higher risk, but they can balance that with charging you a higher premium and they'd be making on the admin fee as well. Even if they ended up charging you the same (or more) as cancelling and starting a new policy.

One sp30 with 3pts 12 months ago
The 2 recent were non fault and last of which was over a year ago and they didn't affect my ncd
Had 2 fault 3-4 years ago when I first got a car
3 years ncd in august
and my premium is 20-30% lower thus year
So yes was harsh
No didn't speak to a manager but what sounded like a youth
Cancelling her policy is £35 and adding me goes up from 220 to 340 or something like that
So I pay her 150 ish just so I can drive to work and sports for a few weeks til I find a car0 -
A lot of companies want 5 years history. So your earlier fault claims plus the recent no fault claims may be your stumbling blocks
When you are added as a named driver any ncd you have is irrelevant and they don't allow any reduction no matter how many years you have done0
