Changed my mind. After reading Questor they pointed out five things to avoid in TSB.

Memo to myself. Ignore the DT's Questor column.

    Very wise.

If the journos who write it were good enough they'd be earning a hedge fund manager's salary, not that of a journo. Or long retired.
  • I read most of the commentators prior to the float...mostly neutral or negative, very few positive.

I used to work with Paul Pester in a previous life, and I had a good chat to my bank mgr the day before applications closed, and me being a contrarian type of chap applied for £11k.

Only got £4000 odd as oversubscribed.

    Happy to hold.

Sold out too. Didn't expect such a good first days premium.

I'm leaving mine there, it was only a bit of money that was lying around in cash, so it wasn't exactly as if that bit of money was working hard before.
    IANAL etc.
  • Happy too hold for now, I had solid reasons for buying and am in no hurry too send the funds back too a 3% interest account.

Sat there with a 289p sale price in the screen and didn't take it. Tried again and was offered 296.5p.

    Bit their hands off.

I might yet buy back in if the price drops back a bit. But I really should diversify more.

Is your holding part of a balanced equity portfolio ?
  • A good question Thrugelmir and I do take your point. I would say that this deal has added some diversification, but I am unlikely to purchase more banking shares. I would certainly consider selling if they reach a certain price point, but this was a considered purchase for me, and so far this has achieved what I had hoped. I'm sorry that some posters were swayed by the negative comments in the press and missed out on a quick win, as with many things the press has it's own agenda.

I bought my £2k worth through X-O. Looking at selling page and I see a couple of things I don't really understand.

What does 'Settlement Offset' mean and why does it have the options: 3, 5, 10 or 20 days?

Order Type: Good Through or Stop Loss. I can guess but I'm not sure what this means?

Limit Price: Combined with the above option I can have a stab at what it means but I would appreciate a clarification.

Any help will be much appreciated! But please don't tell me off for 'playing' on the stock market when I clearly don't know what I'm doing!
