Hi I'm looking for some advice, I have 2 self seeded pampas grasses in my front garden. Its a long strip down the shared drive side. What is the best way of getting rid of these. My soil is solid clay & is not easy to dig.
Any help is appreciated.

You could try killing it with a good strong weedkiller - it may take a number of applications, and even then the roots would still need to be dug out.

I cut mine down to the ground using a hedge trimmer - and then half a days work with a spade and mattock got the root-ball out.

    No easy way.

They're horrendous to get rid of, the root ball is like concrete and the foliage cuts like a knife.

I'd seriously look at "getting the man in" with a stumpgrinder

Thanks for your replies, if I used a weed killer would it kill my other plants? The irises have pushed their way through. I hate them I manage to cut my feet every time I walk past the bl00dy things!!

Before you cut it down, read this.
It may be more fun to keep it.

They burn well, but burning it is supposed to be the best way to encourage future growth and flowers.

I burned mine a few years back and found it just grew more but didn't flower, so I've given up on it and want rid. I just keep strimming the fronds; next stop glyphosate.
