Wait until they ask you for ID if you are over 25 in the CO-OP because they are selling a pot of pasta sauce that has wine in it.
Don't laugh, it HAS happened. The more I live, the more I learn.

I don't hate everyone at all, just people like you who cannot accept that everyone is entitled to their opinion. :rotfl:0 -

So you missed the recent 'storm in a coffee cup' when Andy Sawford, (Labour MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire and shadow communities minister), wrote to every MP with a local Waitrose asking them to pressurise them into abandoning the free coffee and newspaper loyalty scheme because of its effect on local coffeshops and newsagents?
Rapid climbdown from Labour after that story hit the papers.yangptangkipperbang wrote: »I think you are wrong there, I use both Waitrose and Lidl (about 50 yds apart). I buy what I consider to be best value - not the cheapest.....
Indeed. Every Saturday I stop off at Waitrose to pick up my free paper and coffee and whatever they have on offer, on my way to Lidl to buy whatever they've got in their 'half-price weekend'. Not sure whether that makes me a prole or a toff. Not sure that I care that much either way.:)0 -
DD buys a paper, iQ for 30p and then gets a free coffee nearly every day, very MSE.0

I do have a MyWaitrose but actually I haven't had to show it to anyone when obtaining free coffee - at lunchtime I think the staff feel it is too much hassle.
I applaud Waitrose for the gesture and note that you have to purchase £5/£10 for a free newspaper now - and quite right.
(About 11 months ago local newspaper had a 'news article due to letter' about the chavs filling up the local to area Waitrose slurping their free coffee.......)
I would rather that Waitrose introduced a scheme so that you could donate your free coffees to local charity.0
