Sky changed the rules

So.... I've had a sky broadband package with the obligatory line rental for the phone. I don't have any sky TV subscription package. A couple of days ago my beloved LFC.tv channel stopped working and I got the message that I have the wrong sky viewing card in and that I should contact sky to change it. So i contact sky. 1hour 30 minutes later after various conversations I'm told that they don't know why it has happened and that I will be put through to somebody (4th time) who will take some details and send me a new card. I wish. It turns out that every 3 years the cards are reset working and as I have no TV subscription I have to pay £25 for a new card. Hmmmm... But I'm already paying £5 for not having TV... I feel like I've been stiffed. All I want is my Lfctv! I've been with sky for 4 years and its not been a problem before so this invalidates the 3 year story. I'd leave today but I paid my monthly fee on the 14th May. Any thoughts, advice would be most welcomed.

Unfortunately you might be one of the few people that has to pay up for a new card. Take it out - is it blue with a yellow house? These will no longer work and you'll need to contact Sky to get a newer (white) one, and yes, £25 is the charge. The good news is they have generally done this less than every 3 years. The newer cards are more secure and give Sky more control, I would guess.

Sky didn't change the rules, it has always been £25 for a (freesat) card if you dont subscribe to sky tv.
