That looks just like my junior puddy tat, black as Ace of Spades and twice as daft.
Am sneaking in NSD number 4 as avoided buying last minute Father's Day card for OH's stepdad because we already have a selection of blank cards in stock for all occasions. So, that is your first frugal tip for the day - obviously for special people and occasions you may want to buy a proper card, but for other odds and sods people and occasions, those pretty sets of notelets and envelopes that you get from cheapo stationery shops will serve the purpose - you can write your own poem or message inside (better than some of the naff poems you get in commercial cards), and you can get a variety of pictures to suit men and women. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Not a(n) NSD for me today - needed milk, which really is essential she you don't drink anything non-alcoholic apart from tea with milk in!!
So quick shop stop and spent just shy of £15 on two types of milk (essential), fruit (5 a day is essential right, it's like the law!), bread and bacon (essential for The Morning After on Sunday!), biscuits (essential to keep OH happy!) and flowers (cos I deserve to be happy too! Although do feel a little guilty about that £6 spend!)
So took the opportunity of a spendy day to fill petrol tank and will no doubt be expected to collect beer later for that sport thing that is apparently happening tomorrow, don't know if any of you know about this but apparently it's quite a big deal?!?!Debt Free I FFEF I Building Savings I 2025 Plan:- Regular Savings £8,200/£10,000

So, marmite, t2rry, ShirePiskie, beanie, Knitwitch, Hubert, cw, and Igor makes 8 in the team, roll up, roll up, all volunteers welcome! We have had a challenge from FOBSAGSKWACAOM (Federation Of Bankers, Shopkeepers And General Scurvy Knaves Who Are Constantly After Our Money) so I am sure there will be no shortage of people just dying to get their hockey sticks round the ankles of such fine folk.
Igor has planned the spit roast [STRIKE]donkey[/STRIKE] no, not you Hubert, sweetie, we need you in goal, I mean roadkill of whatever variety he should encounter that will make a good meal for 2 hockey teams, a number of reserves and various supporters.
And, you may ask, what is the Nargle planning to do on that day?
Well, with Igor catering, somebody has to nip to the takeaway! Pizzas ok for everyone? One life - your life - live it!0 -

I hit a discount card shop at the start of the year, and picked up birthday cards for all the family (and a few very close non-family folks) I give to for the entire year AND all of next year. Some were 5 for £1, some were 10 for £1. Got slightly better (29p-49p) with ages on for a couple of the younger ones, and about the same for Mother's Day, plus 39p for a Wedding Anniversary one suitable for a Golden (my parents in Sept). Found a Father's Day one lurking in a box in the house from several years ago ! Also have enough general Christmas Cards to last me for several years, plus specials for my parents and kids for this year (now I no longer have workplaces to pass them around at). So I think all I need to get is anniversary, birthday and Christmas for OH for both years (Nov & Dec) and Valentines for next year (this years wasn't an expensive one either).
Yesterday was NSD #9 (only the final newspaper, then I went and picked up my £9.50 worth of free groceries), and today is NSD #10 (just mushrooms for a cooked breakfast DS1 has requested before he heads out to perform best man duties for the day!)Cheryl0 -
Good on you, cw, it's not being tight at all, because if you buy a good selection of cards, you still have to put a bit of thought into selecting the one most appropriate for the recipient. And it is supposed to be the thought that counts, not the fact that you paid out 2 or 3 quid for a card with a naff verse or in some cases offensive attempts at humour.
Money and household budgets have to stretch a bit further nowadays. One life - your life - live it!0
