Ryder Cup Tickets - Not transferable

Dear All
I have a problem - my Son and I were lucky enough to get a ticket each for the final day at this years Ryder Cup - however my Son can not now go (first day of University). As the tickets have a photo and their t&c's state "non transferable, non returnable.." etc. - I have contacted them and they can not help. I have a friend who is going on the Saturday and would love to offer him the ticket but can not transfer? - I'm not a ticket tout I just don't want to lose £148 and want to attend with a friend. Are they within their rights or should I insist / escalate / quote the relevant law?
Any/all suggestions or help would be very welcome
Many thanks
David

Slightly surprised they don't offer a ticket buy back (for a fee) as they would have no trouble reselling.

You agreed to their Ts & Cs when you bought the tickets !
It is their event and they can stipulate whatever conditions they want. If they allow you to ignore the Ts & Cs, where do they draw the line ?0
