Ryder Cup Ticket cancellation?

Hello I am looking for some advice (although I am pretty sure I know the answer)
I have recently bought a Ryder Cup 2014 ticket (bought through a similar process as the Olympics ticker allocation ie it was a ballot)
Unfortunatly due to changing circumstancies I will not be able to attend the event. I have phoned seetickets.com to ask if I can cancel tickets however I have been told that I have no chance of doing this.

15. If tickets are despatched and returned as “addressee unknown”, Ryder Cup Europe LLP reserves the right to cancel the order in full without further notice or liability to the successful applicant. In such circumstances, the applicant will be entitled to a refund only if the tickets are re-sold by Ryder Cup Europe LLP.

20. Other than 15 above Ryder Cup Europe LLP shall only refund the purchase price of the ticket (and shall have no liability for any further sums) where play is cancelled or postponed without any play and the reason for cancellation or postponement is an event against which Ryder Cup Europe LLP is insured. Other than in these circumstances, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase. In no case shall any liability (other than for death or personal injury) of Ryder Cup Europe LLP, its staff, agents or contractors arising from acts or defaults at or near the venue or otherwise in respect of the event include any liability for indirect or consequential loss or damage.

I have checked previous forum threads and they all said that I have no way of cancelling these tickets.
Does anyone have any new ideas or thoughts on how I might be able to cancel or swap these tickets?

It seems daft that through unforseen circumstances I will not be able to go and will have to pay and some other golf fan is deperate to go.

I am all for getting rid of touts by having secure ticket allocation but on genuine cases like this I wish there was a way round it.

  • Hi there,

I too found the ticketing process quite frustrating. I secured a ticket on my application but my Dad was unsuccessful and I am desperately trying to get him a ticket. Do you know if the final tickets come with names etc printed on them? Because I would happily purchase the ticket from you if this was a feasible option.

They've really not been clever in this step.

    Thanks

    Craig
