Spam Texts

Hi All,

If this has been covered before, my apologies.

For the past few months I have occasionally been getting SPAM texts on my PAYG Nokia 206 on Tesco Mobile network. I just delete them, without thinking too much about them.

I topped up yesterday with £10. made one phone call yesterday and one text this morning. Then found out I had only £4 credit left.

I rang Tesco Customer care and was asked if I had made any premium texts - No, I answered, but I had received one, which I had not asked for.

Tesco said that text has cost you £6, and all they can do is put a premium block on the phone. I asked them to put the block on.

I can't post the exact name as I've now deleted it, but it was something like "Babes4U.com"

Just a warning to anyone receiving spam texts, they may be costing you dearly.

  • If you're a Tesco Mobile customer you can easily change the settings online by logging into your account. This applies whether you are a contract or PAYG customer.
The account also allows you to change tariff as well now if you want to go onto the Lite tariff for low users but use up your existing credit first though!

Thanks, I have now logged in and confirmed that its set to exclude premium texts, but I think it should be set to this by default, or at least, the phone should have this as an option.
