At £100+ it may be worth seeking an early refund.

Although it seems an obvious question, not everything is always straightforward, but would the venue be in a financial position to refund all the monies now?

As you're seeking legal advice, would you please let us know the results of this?

I can't imagine it wouldn't be able to make the refunds. It is part of a huge national concern.

I'll let you know how I get on with legal advice.

    Thanks for your input.

Thing the refund amount was over £100 so therefore membership is approx 2.5k

The £100+ refund is 2/25ths of the annual fee. The annual fee is about £1300, or approx £52 per event.

Why can't you say what the venue is? It can be awfully hard to understand people's threads and give meaningful advice when the posts are so vague.

In your opening post you say that the company will give either a percentage refund (2/25ths) of the fee OR a reduction in next year's membership.

Maybe that's why they are leaving the refunding until the year end?

Have you got this in writing, out of interest?

Yes it is in writing. They will apply the 2/25ths refund as part payment towards next years membership (not due until the end of December) but if we do not renew they will then give us a refund. So nothing until the end of the year whatever.

If, under their T&Cs they have allowed for this (ie in the event of cancellations beyond our control) they might well have written it into the T&Cs that any refund or discount will be offered at the end of the season. But this cancellation is not *exactly* out of their control and they know well in advance that the two final events of the season won't take place.

However what you COULD consider trying is sending a Letter Before Action requesting the immediate refund of 2 x 25ths of the season ticket given they have notified you of the cancellation. Read the season ticket terms first and consider whether this would be an appropriate action under the circumstances (or post a link to the T&Cs here - then we can all have a read through).

It will be cheaper than seeking legal advice anyway!

Good point thankyou. So I have looked at the T&Cs. They don't say a thing about cancellations! Not a word. The only paragraph that comes anywhere close says "Where possible changes in membership will be communicated onsite or by email, post or phone where appropriate." Sharp practice I call it.

One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
