there was an interesting post by some-one that used USA as an example of country benefitting from immigration

the brief facts were:-
immigrants arrived and
-cheated, defrauded the locals
-then basically committed genocide on the original inhabitants
-destroyed much of the flora and fauna
-introduced one of the largest slave economies in modern times
-had a civil war that killed millions
-once slavery had been abolished they became probably the most racially divided society in the world
-even today the US id still probably the most racially divided 'western country'



would that original poster be an example of some-one too dumb too realise they were racist?

Bit like Generali going on about how wonderfully multicultural Australia is. I think some of the earlier (pre European) inhabitants may have reservations.

All that is terrible.

However, I'm not understanding your point. Are you arguing that the USA's economy today would be better with a population of 3 million than a population of 343 million?

If the British hadn't colonized the US do you think the native Indians would have had to have had an immigration policy eventually?

I think the point was that for the original population, things became infinitely worse. Most of them were murdered or treated as slaves.

Most of the ones that died - died from coming into contact with Western diseases. That is a tragedy. It's not an argument against immigration in today's USA.

By the way Native Americans struggle with this even today
