LPG tank removal - who is responsible?

Advice needed on how to go about removing an LPG tank found in the garden of a house we have just bought.
The house has never been lived in so we assume the tank is empty but it has the suppliers name attached to it. No trace of any contract left in the house and the suppliers webpage gives no guidance.
We intend to contact the supplier but want to be well informed before doing so in case they throw any charges at us, especially as they may need a crane to remove it!
If they decide they don't want it back, is there a market for these tanks?
Thanks in advance for your help.

We used to have LPG from Mac Gas or BP as they are now. When we decided to change to Oil we had to give 42 days notice and were charged £150 for them to remove the tank from our land. This is bearing in mind we had been charged £10 per month for rental of the tank. We had been a customer for 18 years.
They had a 3rd party company come to remove it and the men told us that they were allowed to remove the LPG from the tank and use it as they saw fit. They do have to have specialist equipment to remove it onto the back of a truck to transport it. The tank was about 40% full which we had paid for. You will be charge as it is their tank and they will want it back.
