Yes vanquis do higher limits than the 3000 shown in there terms, I myself just got an increase from 3000 to 3500 due to hit june, there are others as has been said who also have seen there increase happen above 3000. Ive held the card for 3 years and was sat at 3000 for about 15 months.

What's the largest limit that vanquis do ?

Why not get a 'better' card with 0% interest and/or cashback?

Have you tried the soft search facility on the MSE website?

Whilst I appreciate it's a sub-prime card with a hefty APR (if you don't repay in full) I would keep it as a "spare" card to build up history on your credit files.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

Commenting on my own experience I went from Vanquis to Aqua Advance: If you are (re)building your credit history you are likely taking the medium term view and the Aqua Advance reduces the APR by 5% a year for 3 years. So after 4 years counting the first year your APR will be at or close to Prime and then you might not have to get a Prime card. That's the track I'm on right now anyway.

If Vanquis is the only card you have I would highly advise keeping it alive even if you get another card to keep it in your credit history. I kept it alive just by spending a tenner on it per month.

I've got a limit of £3000 with this card, and not a penny owed to the shysters lol.

    Hi amberspy,

Did you eventually get a letter or email before the increase? Also, please how long did it take after your fourth statement?
  • I got my card about 3 years ago credit limit £250, had a letter in Feb with increase to £1000 and just had email yesterday to say increasing limit to £2000 in July. I don't pay off in full each month, can't afford to although I do pay well over minimum payment, I don't really want too big limit, its only there in case of emergency need.
