Two Mobile providers, one number?
Options
I am due to get a new phone next week with Vodaphone. I am currently with Virgin but only for the next few weeks, so for about 4 weeks I will in effect have two mobile providers.
Is it possible to transfer my mobile number that I have with Virgin over to Vodaphone once I get the new phone, or do I have to wait until my contract has finished with Virgin first?
I dont want the hassle of telling people my new number, then in a few weeks time telling them to revert back. The mobile number I have at the moment I have had for years and its an easy number to remember.
thanks

Porting the number to another network terminates the old contract. You can port it anytime, but you'll have to pay the early termination fee, i.e the full cost of the remaining 4 weeks.0

It appears either way you are going to be paying for both contracts so may as well port your number now (unless you have some use for the Virgin allowance). I have carried two phones round for a week or so when switching numbers and contracts round and it is not too much hassle - the key is not giving your new number to anyone.
If the Vodafone phone is not locked you could use your Virgin sim in it and just keep using the Virging number ... But again, still paying both so may as well make it easier now and port the number?
