'Having ants is a sign of a dirty house.'

The above quote is ridiculous!! Ants usually live outside and find their way in to your home. Anyone can get a small infestation. Dealing with it proves you want keep your home clean.

I have had them in the kitchen near where the waste outlet and back door is. I used the powder last thing at night, all around the inside of outside walls. Kept the dog out of the kitchen till morning after I'd hoovered up.

I found what worked for me was the old fashioned scouring powder, I went around all the outside walls every night for about a week, not had any for the last few years ( touch wood! )

I read also that sweetner in the granule form can kill them .
They take it back to the nest and it kills them all.
When I read this I put some near a run and had no bother since.

Spray WD40 at the entry point.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Came home yesterday to find about 200 ants on kitchen floor and work tops, had a quick search online advised to kill them which took ages to ensure they don't go back to the nest, apparently these first ones are scout ants sent out to check places out to let the nest know they found somewhere to invade. I watched them for ages trying to establish how they were getting in and it was under the front door. So apparently ants leave a trail for other ants to follow and you need to get rid of this trail, someone said put salt down so I've sprinkled a salt over the front door entrance and along the skirting board edges, have only seen about 6 ants today, not sure if they are ones I didn't catch last night or new ones but they appeared confused and didn't follow trail of the others so I'm guessing it worked. Yes I have salt all over the floor which is a nuisance but thought good tip as it's cheap, it's something most people have in their cupboards and no need to fork out for chemicals like ant killer which is harmful to humans and pets and easily cleaned up with a Hoover.

Another vote for ' ant stop ' ..in powder form or little circular traps ( safer if you have children ) within 24hrs they have all gone honestly it's amazing stuff I swear by it :D

I once got infested with flying ants, it was like some kind of horror film.
I walked in to the kitchen and noticed a lone flying ant on the side, looked around and every surface was covered in them.
I had to hoover them up, really grim.
P.s I have tried the icing sugar and baking powder trick on the regular ants i get and it hasn't worked for me.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
