It looks to me like this is more like raffle or lottery than a genuine auction. Certainly feels a whole lot like gambling to me.
  • It reminds me of the web site where you buy an acre of the moon. You have to rifle through about 3 pages of small print to get to the part which admits it's a "novelty item" which basically means it's not real, and this apparently allows them to make you think it's a genuine sale for one acre of the moon in all the rest of their advertising materials without making it clear whether it's real or not.

It's even more unfair than a raffle. At least if you buy a raffle ticket, your ticket doesn't time out and you need to buy yet another ticket and then another ticket to still have a chance to win.
  • Thanks To all at MSE
On googling ipad4 I opened Expert reviews and from there, then redirected to MoneyExpert, where I was redirected to Swoggi. I then started to register but stopped. I googled Swoggi and found yourselves. What luck?I think I should do the lottery now. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL
  • I was directed to a site called swoggi and it looked very good, as it turns out, it seems to be a scam. I was persuaded to join and sent £50 via pay pal. Tried 2 auctions and did not get anything that I sent a bid for.
Now I am unable to get any recompense from PayPal and Swoggi will not let me log in. When I input my e-mail address it says not known ?
so I am unable to reset the password.
BEWARE DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE it has cost me !!!!!
    :(
  • We all know. But are any of you affected by Swoggi reporting it to trading standards?

I made a formal complaint to the advertising standards agency (or whatever it is called) and they have ruled that the Madbid adverts are not misleading at all and make it perfectly clear that the site requires people to pay for the chance to bid and win items. They consider it perfectly clear that this is not a straight auction site but a pay to bid site where chance is factored in.

I still think it is misleading and get cross every time i see that blasted ad or hear it on the radio

Try a letter to your MP, mine was surprisingly effective, with something similarish. It's just the right time to get them to do something too.

I have also realised this is a scam as have researched the names on the bidding and the same people bid for 24+ hours constantly on Bid Robot. Not only this but they have won every item on the list and still keep bidding for the same items they have already won. There are so many repeat names that they are stooges and have automatic Bid Robots .

I am afraid I have also lost my money
