Professional Indemnity after bankruptcy
Comments

Do a search on the Money Supermarket Professional Indemnity Insurance for a QUOTE and it says "Please either agree or disagree with the following statements" and it asks "Have you, or any partner/principal/director or member of your family been declared bankrupt or been granted an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA)?"
I went through a few comparison sites, and many won't insure my profession and those who did excluded due to credit history.0 -
Try your trade association who will normally have a scheme with a broker.
Or try a proper broker who specialise in PI, the broker association BIBA have a search option on their website http://www.biba.org.uk/FindBroker/Indemnity-insurance/Professional-Indemnity/ConsumerHome.aspx?category=Indemnity&subcategory=KisxQYx3i0OGJ5elTJarDuVMQA0RXB34&pageIndex=0
Or this guy will be able to help or recommend someone who can help https://www.choiceinsuranceagency.com
Thank you for your help; I will call these tomorrow. I have already contacted the other lead you gave me and it is much appreciated.0 -
Google identifies SIS Insurance as one brokerage that might be able to help.

No idea of whether they are to be recommended however. Others may have specific knowledge.
Just an update in case anyone else in this position needs a bit of help too.
I contacted these and have just spoken to an advisor on the phone. I asked directly why there are such problems insuring after bankruptcy and she said it is a question they have got to ask to do with the terms of the bankruptcy not regarding terms of the insurance.
She advised that potential clients should explain the reason for the bankruptcy (not overspending or personal spending in my case) and that should be taken into consideration by the underwriters.
She is hopeful that they will be able to insure me due to amount owed at the time of bankruptcy and the terms of the bankruptcy.
Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.0
