Yes, all good here thanks Bubbs. I have some news though. I have a new addition to my household. Our nearly 15 year old godson who has arrived today to stay with us.

I won't go into all the ins and outs, I'll just say that he wasn't receiving the care and support at home that he ought to have been . Hes very recently been diagnosed with Aspergers.
I know people will think Im bonkers taking on another kid with all Ive had going on But, it's not a decision I took lightly or without the views of everyone else who lives here. Quite honestly, the alternative to him coming here was unthinkable

As kids go, he's pleasant, polite and well behaved......but quite withdrawn. He gets on well enough with my kids and they are happy for him to be here. I have enough room here for him to have his own space, which is important to him. And one more mouth to feed won't bankrupt us.

The most heartbreaking thing is that my friend (I'm using that term loosely ) his mother offered no resistance to the idea of him living here :(. I have no idea how it's going to pan out or for how long it will be. I would like to hope that at some point one of his parents will give themselves a shake and be in a position to look after him the way he deserves.

Perhaps just giving the parents some space to get their heads and their acts together will be enough of a shock for them to realise that they are just that - parents.

My youngest - well at one stage I felt like a sandwich filling between him and infant and junior school and if someone had offered to take him off my hands I would have jumped at the chance.

But I persisted and kept soldering onwards. In high school he had a SEN that tried to move hell and high water for him and then he went to college and he found his niche and again a good set of staff and then he just shone and shone.

He went on to get a degree, a full time job with an international company straight afterwards, 3 hours from home, which he has been with for over a year now and he now lives with a bunch of older lads in a shared house now.

I am so glad that I just stuck with it throughout the ups and downs of the last 21 years.
