The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) has today named Babcock as the preferred bidder on a 21 year contract to manage London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) vehicle fleet.

    Right okay.

That was published, perhaps appropriately enough, on 1st April this year:
    http://www.babcockinternational.com/media-centre/babcock-named-preferred-bidder-for-london-fire-brigade-fleet-management-contract/

    It continues:

This follows the successful delivery of an interim fleet management contract awarded to Babcock by LFEPA in November 2012.
Following the LFEPA announcement, there will be a mandatory 10 day standstill period before final contract award. The contract is expected to become operational on 13 November 2014.

    According to the 'about us',

"For over a century, Babcock has been a name synonymous with ultra-reliable engineering excellence."

Hmm...even though I wasn't even aware of their existence until perhaps a couple of years ago and didn't automatically think "ultra-reliable engineering excellence" on seeing "Babcock":rotfl:.

Their logo includes "Trusted to deliver". Well, I have a lot of trust in the delivery of a time signal at the moment!!:rotfl:

Usually, phrases such as this one prompt the riposte from myself: Deliver what?:p

Trusted to deliver what? Fresh air? A crap service? Profits for their own shareholders (only reasonably!). A time signal that is reliably excellent and beyond?

As it is, the slogan is, like possibly every slogan, this truncated slogan - totally meaningless!:rotfl::)

You know  - I think I'll ask them. Let's see what their response is. I'll let you know what the response is!

I'm under pressure not to do this (for obvious reasons).

    :(

One mistake by me and it could be the difference between life and death.

    :(

You have my admiration karlie. :A

I don't think many of us would have the courage to do your job. ;)

Had to proof read part of DD2's SSC last night, have to admit does not sound like my DD at all, the words have come from a grown woman I do not recognise who can put across her view of an ethical argument. To say I am proud is an understatement, and she has not even finished it yet. :o
