My old employee (an au pair) contacted me today to tell me that DWP had contacted her and wanted to speak to her regarding tax paid whilst she worked for me, and my disabilities (I claim benefits for my disabilities)
She said they had called a number of times, given my name, told her that her tax was not paid when it should have been (my responsibility) and that as well as this, they were investigating my disabilities.
Now I am disabled, and claiming benefits, so can I just call DMP and ask if they are investigating me? I suspect the old employee is lying as she wants to spite me. If so, can I report it to the police?

sorry she did say hmrc as well, my mistake0

did you pay her tax and NI while she was working for you?0
-
no, because she always earned under the limit0
-
            What benefits are/were you claiming?
Was the au pair living with you?0

You can call, they may not tell you anything until they have completed their preliminary enquiries. I can't see the police being interested if it is untrue, unless this is not the only thing she has done against you.0

no she wasnt living with me, but she is of the opinion that i am not disabled and just exaggerating things. she worked for me for 5 months.
this is the only thing she has done, but there have been a few bad reviews of my company which i suspect she wrote (under fake names). This has caused me a lot of stress, she has told me that DWP & HMRC are ringing her telling her they are investigating me for benefit fraud and tax evasion. Surely that warrants police action?0

How do you think it warrants police action?
I get the impression you parted under poor terms?0

Just wait and see if DWP contact you. She may be lying. Was everything above board and up to date with HMRC?
I actually think she has posted on the employment board, although she says 4 months0

isnt it illegal to lie like that?0

You have your own company, but you are on disability benefits? am I reading that correctly?
Phoning HMRC or the DWP to ask if they are investigating you for benefit fraud is likely to make either body suspicious that you have done something fraudulent! I'd just leave it and see if they contact you.0
