I know that there are beauty experts galore on this thread so please has anyone got any suggestions re nail care.
Firstly I give my nails are very hard life, I dont use gloves in the garden, love getting my hands into the soil and I also dont use gloves when washing up, which is at least 6 times a day with my gang who are always eating.
Then I have been using the self tanning creams a lot, sometimes being naughty and not using a disposable glove so I have nasty brown tide marks on the nails. Well my left hand anyway, having broken all the nails except the thumb nail on the right side!
Plus my husband has taken to nail varnishing my nails, just dont ask, it does look very nice though with the fake tan, the sun shining and nice summery clothes! I do though tend to just put extra coats on rather than starting from scratch when I get chips.
But I've just taken all of it off ready for a complete recoat and the nails look in very nasty condition. I used a nail buffer on them last night so at least now the flakiness has gone.
I am taking my free vitamins from Tesco but of coarse this will take months to show. And I try and use plenty of hand and nail cream but it does not seme very effective. Not sure wether the cream can get to the nails with varnish on.
I think the only thing to do is to revarnish them so I dont have to look at them.

Thanks for that, i agree... got my photos today, i'm really pleased with them, colours are strong and clear and i could enhance things on the machine before checkout. Pic size seems normal even tho they call it "small". Have now put an order (after a bit of struggling) for 10 pics via my mobile sent using bluetooth to the machine... gonna see what the quality looks like on them.
I've got some pics stored on my mobile I'd like to process. How do I turn these into photos? when it comes to modern technology I'm clueless :rotfl:
I bought an item from the Roc range on monday - in the sale. When I got home I noticed there was an expiry date on the box (didn't see it when I bought it 'cos the box is blue and the print is also blue and I didn't have my reading glasses with me) the product - wait for it! - expired in 8/2006:eek:
I called CS and the guy I spoke to said he would compensate me, but he didn't ring back. Anyway I have his name so he WILL be hearing from me again. The moral of this story is: Be carefull when buying sale items as a lot of their (boots) stock is well past it's sell by date and could be harmful.0 -
Hello there Mary!
oh my lord, where do i start, well altho i feel im not an expert to give advice on nails but as people on a daily basis ask me 'are they real' pointing to my nails that is!! lol! i thought i would let u koow that i too am hard on my hands, terrible infact, so much cooking cleaning and i do it all without gloves too, still apparently my hands are soft, so friends tell me!
i swear by several coats of hard as nails by sally hansen plus use the overnight treatment by who else! but of course botanics!
and avoid using soaps at any cost, go for moisturing liquid soap, this is something iv changed to recently and have noticed how my hands are hardly ever dry now.
for starters i would say get that hard as nails on your nails and try and break one, pretty impossible after 3 coats.

hi this is on-line, but its not adding the points on properly, i have rung CS and argued with them and i am now waiting for them to get back to me to see if they are going to honor the points.
Hi I have just checked my account and i think i know what you are on about. It does not say you have to buy 2 to get the 500 pts so therefor should get 500 per item is that correct as i have only been given 500 per 2 purchases."I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. Thank you, good advice, yet they do tend to break and split and also when I am doing something non stenuous like emailing!
Its funny how the old treatments are nearly always the best, like using Vaseline as a lip salve.
I've checked Boots.com for prices and it is about £4.50 so I checked ebay and even including postage there are loads for about £2.50 so I am going to treat myself.
Boots Botanics overnight treatment for hands isnt showing on Boots.com so a good excuse for going into town armed with my 100 points voucher from the magazine!
