Went up to collect Euros from Thomas Cook on tuesday after reserving online.
I paid by card and it went through on the chip and pin.
Then whatever TC staff have to do on the computer crashed, burned and froze mid transaction.
The manager joked that he could not let me leave there and then in case I had "free money". I joked back more about the chance of them charging me "twice".
Anyway they made a phonecall to I assume the card handling company who confirmed the payment was good. The TC manager then said he would put it through as cash and allowed me to leave with my Euros and receipt.
Fast forward to online banking today.
It shows a card payment to TC on tuesday all good.
Then however it shows the exact same amount in a card credit from TC
I appreciate they wont be able to debit my card again (I think).
Obviously they have my details as all ID is taken for currency transactions.
What do you good people expect to happen ?
A letter from TC grovelling would be my expectation.
I imagine as it went through as "cash" it might take them a while to notice.

Either you'll get away with it (nice one!). Or they'll realise and chase it up with in you. In which case you'll probably have to pay.0

Looking closer at my statement it is clear the amount was debited 100%.
There appears to be no possibility of a failed transaction.
The question therefore is why the refund ?
Perhaps something to do with them putting the transaction through as cash !!!0 -

You will of course contact them explaining what happened and offering to pay; they will apologetically explain that they do not have any systems that would allow them to collect your 'cash' payment after the fact; you will end up both with free money and a reputation for honesty, and quite possible some kind of thank you voucher from them as well.0
