Yes there is a cooling off period, yes he knew what he was signing.. but the point is - THE WAY HE DID IT!!
I know there proper hard core sales people in Phones4u - when I threatened to leave, I got nearly £200 cash out of them.. but the point is.. he kept saying `thats part of the deal`.. when It obvisouly wasn`t .
It did get really confusing (I used to work for Orange, and we were NEVER trained to be like that!)
Fair enough the extras can be cancelled, but it`s just the way it was done !!
What did you used to do at Orange? Just that you must of know your rivals tactics.0 -

Which Phones4u did you go into?? I worked at Phones4u for 3 years (for my sins) and do understand the Hard Sales Pitch that you described, working as an Administration Manager in one of their branches I often had to deal with all of the disatisfied cutomers. You do have a 14 day cooling off period which they can't refuse but it will be pretty tough going back into store - you will be passed over to a Sales Manager who will try and "save" the deal if (this can be pretty brutal - not being a sales person myself , i don't particularly care about the commission and even I found it uncomfortable sitting there whilst you are questioned about why you want to return the phone and why did you sign for it in the first place) if you are adament that you still want to cancel they will need to contact their head office (they can not cancel it in store) you will be passed the phone because of DPA Reasons - you will actually go through to their retentions department and will be asked again why you want to cancel and what can they do to get you to keep the phone - if you do want to keep it state that it's too much money and you don't to pay over a set amount (ie £20/month) 9/10 they will offer to send you out a cheque for difference between the contract that you have signed and the agreement that they make with you - this cheque will be sent out within 30 days (FYI - I once saw a £15/month - 18 month contract being offered for £15, they would send out a cheque for £255 - it was near the end of the month and the guy in retention mustn't have been hitting his target) Once you decide to either go ahead with this or return the phone, you can really get your revenge... a letter of complaint sent into the complaints department about a store colleague mis-selling halves all of the management teams bonus... these can be up to 10K/month for a Store Manager, 2k/3k for assistant manager so your letter can cost up to 6k:eek:  That sales consultant will not be a popular chap and you can pretty much guarantee that the store will think twice before being so pushy in future (or for the next couple of months at least!!)0 -
They are only earning a living.
If people are so so so so blatantly ignormously weak and stupid and signing on the dotted line then why should the sales person suffer because someone has caved into a sales pitch because they are so weak and pathetic to say 'no'.

It's OK to use any company which does not lie.
If they tell the truth but are hard sell then its ok. You just have to be firm.
If your not firm and of a bedwetting character then do not go into a shop but order over the phone or internet. That way you can put the phone down or if panicked pull the power from the computer.0
