Call Only Mobile Phone Contract

I've had my mobile phone for about six years now. It's a Nokia 6310i and at present I run it on an O2 contract, that is of course expensive because I pay for free phones that I don't want.

Incidentally, I had a problem with the phone a few months ago and I was able to get it repaired for £25 by a company in Cambridge. They told me that they repair lots of these phones as it does everything most people want.

So does any company offer a mobile phone contract, where I don't have to pay for other peoples' free phones?

You need to keep an eye out for Sim Only Tariffs, I know O2 and Orange do them

o2 do a good sim only tariff:

£15 per month for 200 mins and 400 texts per month.

If you want to keep your number and move to this tarriff - port your number to a pay as you go sim card on a different network and then back to this o2 sim only tariff.

plus you get around £35 cashback via quidco for o2 monthly contracts! but the sim only tariff is not tied in for 12 months either!

Can't I just get O2 to move me to the Sim Only in the first place.

Ah right, of course you can! Speak to retentions to get the best deal. If you are out of your initial 12 months (I presume you are) then you will be able to get around £100 credited to your account for not taking a new handset.
Personally I would take a new handset and work out which is worth the most and sell that on eBay. Could work out to be an extra £30-£50 over the £100 for not taking a handset, obviously depending on the phone.

I've been with O2 since about 1986.

I find it a great advantage though to stick with the 6310i as it gives me everything I need except a camera. But then I always carry a proper camera and that will be upgraded soon.

According to my man in Cambridge, 6310i spares are still plentiful.
